9-2 ENROLLED, An Act,
10-3 Relating to Cullman County; to amend Section
11-4 45-22-60 of the Code of Alabama 1975; and to provide for the
12-5 annual salary and other benefits for the Coroner of Cullman
13-6 County.
14-7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
15-8 Section 1. Section 45-22-60 of the Code of Alabama
16-9 1975, is amended to read as follows:
17-10 "§45-22-60.
18-11 "(a) Effective for the term of office beginning
19-12 after the 2018 2022 General Election, the Coroner of Cullman
20-13 County shall receive a an annual salary of twenty-five
21-14 thousand dollars ($25,000) thirty-five thousand dollars
22-15 ($35,000), to be paid in equal monthly installments, and shall
23-16 be paid out of the general fund of the county. The salary in
24-17 this subsection shall be the total compensation paid to the
25-18 coroner, subject to the adjustments provided in subsection
26-19 (b).
27-20 "(b) In addition to the salary provided in
28-21 subsection (a), the salary of the coroner shall be increased
29-22 by any uniform increases in compensation granted equally to
30-23 all county employees by the Cullman County Commission. In
31-24 addition, the coroner may participate in the county health

33-1 insurance plan provided to county employees under the same
34-2 terms as county employees.
35-3 "(b)(c) The Cullman County Commission shall provide
36-4 the coroner with office space and a county automobile for use
37-5 in the performance of his or her duties.
38-6 "(c)(d) The Cullman County Commission shall
39-7 reimburse the coroner for any actual expenses for supplies
40-8 used in the performance of his or her duties. The benefits and
41-9 expenses provided in this subsection shall be in addition to
42-10 any other compensation or expense allowances provided by law.
43-11 "(d)(e) The coroner may employ an assistant coroner,
44-12 and the salary of the assistant coroner shall be paid out of
45-13 the salary of the coroner."
46-14 Section 2. This act shall become effective beginning
47-15 on the next term of the coroner on January 16, 2023.
