1 HJR248 2 219721-1 3 By Representatives Shedd, Standridge and Kitchens 4 RFD: Rules 5 First Read: 05-APR-22 Page 0 1 219721-1:n:04/04/2022:SM/sm LSA2022-1152 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 RECOGNIZING GLYNN DEBTER AND DEBTER HEREFORD FARM ON 9 THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY. 10 11 WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly 12 presented to Glynn Debter and Debter Hereford Farm on the 13 occasion of their 50th Anniversary; and 14 WHEREAS, from the start, Debter Hereford Farm in 15 Blount County, Alabama, has become one of the most respected 16 cattle operations in the industry; its emphasis is on herd 17 improvement through genetics and for solid performance-tested 18 Hereford bulls and heifers; Glynn Debter got his start in the 19 cattle business in 1948 with two registered Hereford heifers 20 for his 4-H project; and 21 WHEREAS, the highly anticipated bull sale each 22 October is one of the oldest bull sales in the Southeast and 23 draws producers from across the nation; the Debter Farm bulls 24 and heifers have been sold to cattle operations in 40 states; 25 and 26 WHEREAS, throughout his outstanding career, Glynn 27 Debter has been a leader and promoter of the cattle industry, Page 1 1 serving as President, Director, or Chair of numerous state and 2 national cattle organizations, including the Alabama 3 Cattleman's Association, the American Hereford Association, 4 the Beef Cattle Improvement Association, and the Beef 5 Improvement Federation; Glynn Debter is dedicated to 6 educational and outreach efforts, regularly opening his farm 7 to college judging teams, tour groups, producer field days, 8 and 4-H clubs; in 1989, he was inducted into the Alabama 9 Livestock Hall of Fame and he was recently inducted into the 10 Alabama Agriculture Hall of Honor at the Auburn University 11 College of Agriculture; and 12 WHEREAS, through the years, the Debter family, 13 including Glynn's business partner and wife for 61 years, 14 Bobbie, who passed away in 2015, and their two sons, seven 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, have earned 16 widespread admiration and respect for their cattle operation 17 with four generations working together daily; now therefore, 18 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH 19 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Glynn Debter and Debter 20 Hereford Farm are highly honored and congratulated upon their 21 50th Anniversary and for their outstanding contributions to 22 the cattle industry and service to the State of Alabama, and 23 this resolution is offered in deepest admiration and 24 appreciation for their immeasurable service, as well as with 25 sincere best wishes for continued success in all future 26 endeavors.
