1414 8 COMMENDING REVEREND DR. ROBERT A. SELLERS, SR. ON
1515 9 HIS INSTALLATION AS THE MODERATOR FOR THE MOUNT PILGRIM
1616 10 BAPTIST DISTRICT ASSOCIATION.

1818 12 WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to highly commend Reverend
1919 13 Dr. Robert A. Sellers, Sr. on his installation as the
2020 14 Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association;
2121 15 and
2222 16 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sellers was born to the late
2323 17 S.B. and Ethel Sellers as the fourth child of six children and
2424 18 was reared in Hueytown, Alabama; and
2525 19 WHEREAS, in the summer of 1977, Reverend Dr. Sellers
2626 20 accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church
2727 21 of Hueytown, under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr.
2828 22 K.S. Baker; in 1997, Reverend Dr. Sellers was licensed to
2929 23 preach by Reverend Dr. K.S. Baker; in 1998, Reverend Dr.
3030 24 Sellers was ordained by Reverend Charles Thompson; in 2002,
3131 25 Reverend Dr. Sellers united with the New Mount Moriah
3232 26 Missionary Baptist Church family, under the leadership of
3333 27 Reverend Dr. Charles R. Winston, Jr.; as an Associate
3434 Page 1 1 Minister, Reverend Dr. Sellers served as a Minister of
3535 2 Visitation and a Youth Bible Study Teacher; and
3636 3 WHEREAS, in January 2004, Reverend Dr. Sellers
3737 4 became the eighth Pastor of the historic Friendship Baptist
3838 5 Church in the Rosedale Community of Homewood, Alabama;
3939 6 Christian conversions, congregational ministries, and
4040 7 community outreach endeavors have grown during his tenure;
4141 8 furthermore, under his leadership, several ministries and new
4242 9 programs have been added to the church; and
4343 10 WHEREAS, currently, Reverend Dr. Sellers serves as
4444 11 the Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District
4545 12 Association, which is comprised of more than 160 churches; as
4646 13 the President of the Faith Based Alliance for Advancement of
4747 14 Health Equity; and as a Chaplain for the Jefferson County
4848 15 Sheriff Department; additionally, he was employed with
4949 16 Harbison-Walker Refractories for more than 25 years, and he
5050 17 served as the President of Local 553 United Steel Workers, as
5151 18 a Chaplain for St. Vincent's Health Systems, and as the Vice
5252 19 President of the Woodridge Neighborhood Association; and
5353 20 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sellers holds a Bachelor's
5454 21 Degree in Theology from Birmingham Baptist Bible College, as
5555 22 well as a Master's Degree in Ministry and a Doctor of Ministry
5656 23 Degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla,
5757 24 Georgia; and
5858 25 WHEREAS, he and his wife of more than 29 years,
5959 26 Cassandra Minard Sellers, have two children, Robert, Jr. and
6060 27 Robin; and
6161 Page 2 1 WHEREAS, a man of steadfast diligence who is
6262 2 passionate about serving others, Reverend Dr. Sellers is an
6363 3 inspirational leader and friend in the lives of many; now
6464 4 therefore,
6565 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
6666 6 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Reverend Dr. Robert A.
6767 7 Sellers, Sr. is highly commended on his installation as the
6868 8 Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association,
6969 9 and we hereby dedicate this resolution to him with heartiest
7070 10 appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best wishes
7171 11 for continued happiness and success in all future endeavors.
