14	14	8 COMMENDING REVEREND DR. ROBERT A. SELLERS, SR. ON
15	15	9 HIS INSTALLATION AS THE MODERATOR FOR THE MOUNT PILGRIM
16	16	10 BAPTIST DISTRICT ASSOCIATION.

18	18	12 WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to highly commend Reverend
19	19	13 Dr. Robert A. Sellers, Sr. on his installation as the
20	20	14 Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association;
21	21	15 and
22	22	16 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sellers was born to the late
23	23	17 S.B. and Ethel Sellers as the fourth child of six children and
24	24	18 was reared in Hueytown, Alabama; and
25	25	19 WHEREAS, in the summer of 1977, Reverend Dr. Sellers
26	26	20 accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church
27	27	21 of Hueytown, under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr.
28	28	22 K.S. Baker; in 1997, Reverend Dr. Sellers was licensed to
29	29	23 preach by Reverend Dr. K.S. Baker; in 1998, Reverend Dr.
30	30	24 Sellers was ordained by Reverend Charles Thompson; in 2002,
31	31	25 Reverend Dr. Sellers united with the New Mount Moriah
32	32	26 Missionary Baptist Church family, under the leadership of
33	33	27 Reverend Dr. Charles R. Winston, Jr.; as an Associate
34	34	Page 1 1 Minister, Reverend Dr. Sellers served as a Minister of
35	35	2 Visitation and a Youth Bible Study Teacher; and
36	36	3 WHEREAS, in January 2004, Reverend Dr. Sellers
37	37	4 became the eighth Pastor of the historic Friendship Baptist
38	38	5 Church in the Rosedale Community of Homewood, Alabama;
39	39	6 Christian conversions, congregational ministries, and
40	40	7 community outreach endeavors have grown during his tenure;
41	41	8 furthermore, under his leadership, several ministries and new
42	42	9 programs have been added to the church; and
43	43	10 WHEREAS, currently, Reverend Dr. Sellers serves as
44	44	11 the Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District
45	45	12 Association, which is comprised of more than 160 churches; as
46	46	13 the President of the Faith Based Alliance for Advancement of
47	47	14 Health Equity; and as a Chaplain for the Jefferson County
48	48	15 Sheriff Department; additionally, he was employed with
49	49	16 Harbison-Walker Refractories for more than 25 years, and he
50	50	17 served as the President of Local 553 United Steel Workers, as
51	51	18 a Chaplain for St. Vincent's Health Systems, and as the Vice
52	52	19 President of the Woodridge Neighborhood Association; and
53	53	20 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Sellers holds a Bachelor's
54	54	21 Degree in Theology from Birmingham Baptist Bible College, as
55	55	22 well as a Master's Degree in Ministry and a Doctor of Ministry
56	56	23 Degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla,
57	57	24 Georgia; and
58	58	25 WHEREAS, he and his wife of more than 29 years,
59	59	26 Cassandra Minard Sellers, have two children, Robert, Jr. and
60	60	27 Robin; and
61	61	Page 2 1 WHEREAS, a man of steadfast diligence who is
62	62	2 passionate about serving others, Reverend Dr. Sellers is an
63	63	3 inspirational leader and friend in the lives of many; now
64	64	4 therefore,
65	65	5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
66	66	6 THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Reverend Dr. Robert A.
67	67	7 Sellers, Sr. is highly commended on his installation as the
68	68	8 Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association,
69	69	9 and we hereby dedicate this resolution to him with heartiest
70	70	10 appreciation and admiration, along with sincere best wishes
71	71	11 for continued happiness and success in all future endeavors.
