13-6 ENROLLED, An Act,
14-7 Relating to Colbert County; to provide for the
15-8 distribution of the county's share of the proceeds of the
16-9 simplified seller use tax; and to repeal any local acts in
17-10 conflict.
18-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
19-12 Section 1. This act shall apply only in Colbert
20-13 County.
21-14 Section 2. (a) Upon deposit into the county general
22-15 fund of any gross proceeds of the simplified seller use tax
23-16 distributed to Colbert County pursuant to Sections 40-23-197
24-17 and 40-23-197.1, Code of Alabama 1975, the county commission
25-18 shall expend those proceeds for the payment of any
26-19 indebtedness, until exhausted. When the indebtedness is fully
27-20 paid, the county commission shall then expend the proceeds for
28-21 law enforcement purposes, until exhausted.
29-22 (b) For purposes of this section, the following
30-23 terms shall have the following meanings:
31-24 (1) INDEBTEDNESS. Indebtedness of the county to
32-25 which the county commission has pledged the county's share of

34-1 the proceeds of the simplified seller use tax distributed to
35-2 Colbert County pursuant to Sections 40-23-197 and 40-23-197.1,
36-3 Code of Alabama 1975.
37-4 (2) LAW ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES. Purposes reasonably
38-5 related to the performance of duties by law enforcement
39-6 agencies and their officers and employees, including, but not
40-7 limited to, operating budgets or debt.
41-8 Section 3. Any other local law relating to Colbert
42-9 County which is in conflict with this act is repealed to the
43-10 extent that it conflicts with this act.
44-11 Section 4. This act shall become effective on the
45-12 first day of the third month following its passage and
46-13 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
