8 RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC
9 SERVICE OF SENATOR JIM MCCLENDON BY DESIGNATING A PORTION OF
10 U.S. HIGHWAY 411 THE JIM MCCLENDON PARKWAY.

12 WHEREAS, Senator Jim McClendon will soon conclude
13 his tenure in the Alabama Legislature, where he has
14 represented his fellow residents of Shelby, St. Clair, and
15 Talladega Counties for nearly two decades; and
16 WHEREAS, Senator McClendon was elected to the House
17 of Representatives in 2002; following three terms representing
18 House District 50, Mr. McClendon was elected to the Alabama
19 Senate to represent District 11; and
20 WHEREAS, while in the Alabama Legislature, Senator
21 McClendon has served in a multitude of capacities, including,
22 but certainly not limited to: Chairman of the Senate
23 Healthcare Committee; Chairman of the Senate Health and Human
24 Services Committee; Chairman of the Ethics Committee; Chairman
25 of the House Redistricting Committee; Chairman of the State
26 Health Coordinating Council Hospital Committee; and membership
27 on many other committees; and
Page 1 1 WHEREAS, this body finds it necessary and proper to
2 honor and recognize Senator McClendon's service to the State
3 of Alabama; and
4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
5 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the portion of U.S. Highway
6 411 in St. Clair County, from Moody to the Etowah County line,
7 be named the Jim McClendon Parkway.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the appropriate
9 officials place and maintain signs or markers on that portion
10 of United States Highway 411 designated as the Jim McClendon
11 Parkway.
