16	16		Relating to Pickens County; to further provide for the
17	17		expense allowance and salary of the Revenue Commissioner of
18	18		Pickens County.
19	19		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
20	20		Section 1. (a) Effective beginning on the first day of
21	21		the month following the effective date of this act, the
22	22		Revenue Commissioner of Pickens County shall receive an
23	23		additional expense allowance in an amount equal to eight
24	24		thousand dollars ($8,000) per year payable in equal monthly
25	25		installments. This expense allowance shall be in addition to
26	26		any other salary, expense allowance, or compensation the
27	27		revenue commissioner is receiving. The expense allowance
28	28		provided by this subsection shall be treated as salary for
29	29		retirement purposes.
30	30		(b) Effective beginning the next term of office after
31	31		the effective date of this act, the annual salary of the
32	32		revenue commissioner shall be increased by eight thousand
33	33		dollars ($8,000) per year and at that time subsection (a)
34	34		shall be void.
35	35		(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 11-2A-4,
36		-	Code of Alabama 1975, or any other law to the contrary,
37		-	effective beginning October 1, 2024, and thereafter, pursuant
38		-	to the provisions of this act, the revenue commissioner shall
39		-	be entitled to the same uniform increases in compensation,
40		-	such as cost-of-living increases, received by other elected
41		-	county officers. The uniform increases shall be paid to the

	66	+	effective beginning October 1, 2024, and thereafter, pursuant
	67	+	to the provisions of this act, the revenue commissioner shall
	68	+	be entitled to the same uniform increases in compensation,
	69	+	such as cost-of-living increases, received by other elected
	70	+	county officers. The uniform increases shall be paid to the
71	71		revenue commissioner as expense allowances during the term of
72	72		the revenue commissioner and shall be treated as salary for
73	73		retirement purposes. At the end of each term, the amount of
74	74		any uniform increases during the term shall be added to the
75	75		permanent salary of the revenue commissioner effective
76	76		beginning the next term of the revenue commissioner.
77	77		(d) The expense allowance and salary provided by this
78	78		act shall be paid from any fund or funds from which the salary
79	79		of the revenue commissioner is currently paid.
80	80		Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately
81	81		following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its
82	82		otherwise becoming law.
