15+AN ACT
1516 Relating to Lee County; to amend Section 45-41-242.06,
1617 Code of Alabama 1975, to change the name of the Auburn-Opelika
1718 Convention and Visitors Bureau to Auburn-Opelike Tourism; and
1819 to further provide for the membership and operation of
1920 Auburn-Opelika Tourism.
2021 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2122 Section 1. Section 45-41-242.06, Code of Alabama 1975,
2223 is amended to read as follows:
2324 "§45-41-242.06
2425 (a) There shall be created and established a bureau
2526 known as the Auburn-Opelika Convention and Visitors
2627 BureauTourism.
2728 (b) The bureau shall be composed of five the following
2829 board members:
2930 (1) The judge of probate Chair of the Lee County
3031 Commission or his or her appointee ;.
3132 (2) the mayors or their appointees from the Cities of
3233 Auburn and Opelika; and one The Mayor of the City of Auburn or
3334 his or her appointee.
3435 (3) The Mayor of the City of Opelika or his or her
35-appointee.
36-(4) An employee from of Auburn University, appointed by
37-the President of Auburn University ;. and the four board
38-members shall select a fifth member.
39-(5) The President of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce or
40-his or her appointee.

66+(4) An employee from of Auburn University, appointed by
67+the President of Auburn University ;. and the four board

69+(5) The President of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce or

7071 (6) The President of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce or
7172 his or her appointee.
7273 (7) An additional member chosen by the other voting
7374 members of the board.
7475 (8) The mayor or his or her designee of any other
7576 municipality in Lee County that contains an entity that is
7677 required to pay a lodging tax.
7778 (9) The Lee County Extension Agent , who shall be an
7879 ex-officio member a non-voting member . The Executive Director
7980 of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director
8081 of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce shall serve as ex-officio
8182 members.
8283 (10) Two non-voting members appointed by the voting
8384 members of the board from the local tourism industry.
8485 (b)(c)The newly elected board of directors’ membership
8586 Each appointed member of the board shall serve at the pleasure
8687 of the his or her appointing authoritiesauthority."
8788 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first
8889 day of the third month following its passage and approval by
8990 the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
