	15	+	AN ACT
15	16		Relating to Lee County; to amend Section 45-41-242.06,
16	17		Code of Alabama 1975, to change the name of the Auburn-Opelika
17	18		Convention and Visitors Bureau to Auburn-Opelike Tourism; and
18	19		to further provide for the membership and operation of
19	20		Auburn-Opelika Tourism.
20	21		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
21	22		Section 1. Section 45-41-242.06, Code of Alabama 1975,
22	23		is amended to read as follows:
23	24		"§45-41-242.06
24	25		(a) There shall be created and established a bureau
25	26		known as the Auburn-Opelika Convention and Visitors
26	27		BureauTourism.
27	28		(b) The bureau shall be composed of five the following
28	29		board members:
29	30		(1) The judge of probate Chair of the Lee County
30	31		Commission or his or her appointee ;.
31	32		(2) the mayors or their appointees from the Cities of
32	33		Auburn and Opelika; and one The Mayor of the City of Auburn or
33	34		his or her appointee.
34	35		(3) The Mayor of the City of Opelika or his or her
35		-	appointee.
36		-	(4) An employee from of Auburn University, appointed by
37		-	the President of Auburn University ;. and the four board
38		-	members shall select a fifth member.
39		-	(5) The President of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce or
40		-	his or her appointee.

	66	+	(4) An employee from of Auburn University, appointed by
	67	+	the President of Auburn University ;. and the four board
	68	+	members shall select a fifth member.
	69	+	(5) The President of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce or
	70	+	his or her appointee.
70	71		(6) The President of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce or
71	72		his or her appointee.
72	73		(7) An additional member chosen by the other voting
73	74		members of the board.
74	75		(8) The mayor or his or her designee of any other
75	76		municipality in Lee County that contains an entity that is
76	77		required to pay a lodging tax.
77	78		(9) The Lee County Extension Agent , who shall be an
78	79		ex-officio member a non-voting member . The Executive Director
79	80		of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Director
80	81		of the Opelika Chamber of Commerce shall serve as ex-officio
81	82		members.
82	83		(10) Two non-voting members appointed by the voting
83	84		members of the board from the local tourism industry.
84	85		(b)(c)The newly elected board of directors’ membership
85	86		Each appointed member of the board shall serve at the pleasure
86	87		of the his or her appointing authoritiesauthority."
87	88		Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first
88	89		day of the third month following its passage and approval by
89	90		the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
