	15	+	AN ACT
16	16		Relating to Chambers County; to further provide for the
17	17		expense allowance and salary of the Revenue Commissioner of
18	18		Chambers County.
19	19		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
20	20		Section 1. (a) Effective beginning on the first day of
21	21		the month following the effective date of this act, the
22	22		Revenue Commissioner of Chambers County shall receive an
23	23		additional expense allowance so that the expense allowance and
24	24		the salary of the revenue commissioner is equal to eighty-four
25	25		thousand dollars ($84,000) per year payable in equal monthly
26	26		installments. This expense allowance shall be in addition to
27	27		any other salary, expense allowance, or compensation the
28	28		revenue commissioner is receiving. The expense allowance
29	29		provided by this subsection shall be treated as salary for
30	30		retirement purposes.
31	31		(b) Effective beginning the next term of office after
32	32		the effective date of this act, the annual salary of the
33	33		revenue commissioner shall be eighty-four thousand dollars
34	34		($84,000) per year and at that time subsection (a) shall be
35		-	void.
36		-	(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 11-2A-4,
37		-	Code of Alabama 1975, or any other law to the contrary,
38		-	effective beginning October 1, 2024, and thereafter, pursuant
39		-	to the provisions of this act, the revenue commissioner shall
40		-	be entitled to the same uniform increases in compensation,

	65	+	(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 11-2A-4,
	66	+	Code of Alabama 1975, or any other law to the contrary,
	67	+	effective beginning October 1, 2024, and thereafter, pursuant
	68	+	to the provisions of this act, the revenue commissioner shall
	69	+	be entitled to the same uniform increases in compensation,
70	70		such as cost-of-living increases, received by any other
71	71		elected county officer. The uniform increases shall be paid to
72	72		the revenue commissioner as expense allowances during the term
73	73		of the revenue commissioner and shall be treated as salary for
74	74		retirement purposes. At the end of each term, the amount of
75	75		any uniform increases during the term shall be added to the
76	76		permanent salary of the revenue commissioner effective
77	77		beginning the next term of the revenue commissioner.
78	78		(d) The expense allowance and salary provided by this
79	79		section shall be paid from any fund or funds from which the
80	80		salary of the revenue commissioner is currently paid.
81	81		Section 2. All laws or parts of laws which conflict
82	82		with this act are repealed.
83	83		Section 3. This act shall become effective immediately
84	84		following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its
85	85		otherwise becoming law.
