	15	+	AN ACT
15	16		Relating to Pickens County; to provide for a new court
16	17		cost to pay for service of process by the sheriff of documents
17	18		filed in the district and circuit courts in Pickens County;
18	19		and to deposit the proceeds into the Pickens County Sheriff's
19	20		Law Enforcement Fund.
20	21		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
21	22		Section 1. This act shall apply to Pickens County.
22	23		Section 2. (a)(1) In addition to all other court costs
23	24		authorized in Pickens County, a service of process fee of
24	25		twenty-five dollars ($25) shall be collected for service or
25	26		attempted service of process on each document requiring
26	27		personal service of process by the sheriff in all cases filed
27	28		or pending in the district court or the circuit court of
28	29		Pickens County.
29	30		(2) The service fee collected by the circuit court
30	31		clerk for a case filed or pending in either court shall be
31	32		distributed as follows:
32	33		a. Five dollars ($5) to the circuit clerk's Judicial
33	34		Administration Fund.
34	35		b. Twenty dollars ($20) to the Sheriff's Law
35		-	Enforcement Fund for the law enforcement purposes of the
36		-	sheriff's office.
37		-	(3) The State of Alabama, its political subdivisions,
38		-	and their instrumentalities are exempt from this cost.
39		-	(b) The fees deposited into the Sheriff's Law
40		-	Enforcement Fund are in addition to, and do not diminish,

	65	+	Enforcement Fund for the law enforcement purposes of the
	66	+	sheriff's office.
	67	+	(3) The State of Alabama, its political subdivisions,
	68	+	and their instrumentalities are exempt from this cost.
	69	+	(b) The fees deposited into the Sheriff's Law
	70	+	Enforcement Fund are in addition to, and do not diminish,
70	71		offset, or take the place of any other cost or fee that is
71	72		disbursed to the sheriff or the county jail.
72	73		Section 3. This act shall become effective on the first
73	74		day of the third month following its passage and approval by
74	75		the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
