14-Enrolled, An Act,
13+SYNOPSIS:
14+Under existing law, the Historic Blakeley
15+Authority was created to establish, develop, operate,
16+promote, protect, preserve, and maintain as a state
17+historic park the lands in Baldwin County, Alabama,
18+listed on the National Register of Historic Places as
19+the Blakeley site.
20+This bill would revise the membership of the
21+authority to include the serving member of the Alabama
22+House of Representatives who represents the district
23+where the Blakeley site is situated, in lieu of the
24+member representing District 95.

27+AN ACT
1528 Relating to the Historic Blakeley Authority; to amend
1629 Section 41-10-171, Code of Alabama 1975; to include as a
1730 member of the authority the member of the Alabama House of
1831 Representatives who is serving the district where the Blakeley
1932 site is situated, in lieu of the member serving District 95.
2033 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2134 Section 1. Section 41-10-171 of the Code of Alabama
22-1975, is amended to read as follows:
23-"§41-10-171
24-(a) The authority shall be composed of 21 members as
25-follows:
26-(1) Two representatives of education, one to be
27-appointed by the President of the University of South Alabama
28-for a two-year term and one to be appointed by the Baldwin
29-County Board of Education from among school board members, who
30-are residents of the geographic area that is now Baldwin
31-County Commission District No. 2 for a two-year term ;.
32-(2) Four elected public officials , or their
33-representatives, who shall be:
34-a. The Chairman Chair of the Baldwin County Commission
35-or a member of the Baldwin County Commission to be chosen by
36-the commission to serve during that commissioner's term of
37-office;.
38-b. The Sheriff of Baldwin County during his or her term
39-of office;.
40-c. The Alabama House of Representatives District 95

7891 Historic Society or a person designated by the president for a
79-two-year term;.
80-b. A representative of the Fort Bowyer Chapter,
81-Daughters of the American Revolution to be chosen by the
82-chapter for a two-year term ; and.
83-c. The President of Descendants of Blakeley Residents
84-or a person designated by the president for a six-year term ;.
85-(4) Three representatives of public service and civic
86-organizations as follows:
87-a. A representative of the Eastern Shore Chamber of
88-Commerce to be selected by the organization for a two-year
89-term;.
90-b. The Chairman Chair of the Board of Directors of the
91-Tallulah Bankhead Center for the Performing Arts for a
92-four-year term; and.
93-c. The Chairman Chair of the Blakeley Courthouse Museum
94-Board for a four-year term of four years; and .
95-(5)a. Nine at-large members to be appointed by the
96-Governor from nominations submitted by the Historic Blakeley
97-Foundation according to the following:

131144 c.3. Places 8-9 for two-year terms commencing with
132145 their appointment by the Governor.
133146 b. Upon completion of the initial staggered terms all
134147 subsequent appointments of authority members in category 5
135148 appointed pursuant to paragraph a. shall be by the same
136-method, except they shall be for terms of four years.
137-(b) Vacancies on the board authority during a term
138-shall be filled for the unexpired portion of the term in the
139-same manner and by the same appointing authority as the member
140-whose place is being filled."
141-Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first
142-day of the third month following its passage and approval by
143-the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
