18	18	AN ACT
19	19	Relating to Montgomery County; to provide for the
20	20	creation, funding, and operation of the Montgomery County
21	21	Legislative Delegation Fund and the Montgomery County
22	22	Legislative Delegation Office.
23	23	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
24	24	Section 1. (a) The Montgomery County Commission shall
25	25	create the Montgomery County Legislative Delegation Fund.
26	26	(b) The commission shall deposit at least three hundred
27	27	twenty-five thousand dollars ($325,000) into the fund at the
28	28	beginning of each fiscal year.
29	29	(c) The commission shall immediately pay amounts from
30	30	the fund as the Montgomery County Legislative Delegation may
31	31	request.
32	32	(d)(1) The commission shall employ an office manager
33	33	and two administrative assistants to assist in the daily
34	34	management of the office.
35	35	(2) In addition to the annual deposit into the fund
36	36	required by this section, the commission shall be responsible
37	37	for the wages and benefits of the three office employees.
38	38	(3) The three office employees shall be selected with

68	68	the advice and consent of the members of the delegation.
69	69	(4) The three office employees shall report to the
70	70	chair of the delegation, and their official duties shall be
71	71	limited to support of the members of the delegation and the
72	72	delegation office.
73	73	(e) The delegation shall expend the monies to acquire
74	74	equipment, supplies, services, and all other items necessary
75	75	to establish, equip, and maintain a legislative office for the
76	76	members of the delegation, and may also expend the monies for
77	77	other purposes, including grants for allowable public purposes
78	78	at the discretion and direction of the delegation.
79	79	(f)(1) The largest city in Montgomery County shall
80	80	provide adequate office space for the Montgomery County
81	81	Legislative Delegation Office, including telephone service,
82	82	Internet service, electricity, water, and any other necessary
83	83	utility services.
84	84	(2) The office space location shall be selected with
85	85	the advice and consent of the members of the delegation.
86	86	Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first
87	87	day of the third month following its passage and approval by
88	88	the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
