15	15		HJR___ COMMENDING THE BIRMINGHAM ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
16	16		FOR THE SUCCESSFUL FAIR HOUSING MONTH 55TH ANNIVERSARY
17	17		PROCLAMATION TOUR.
18	18		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® is
19	19		the premier resource for real estate information in
20	20		Birmingham and Central Alabama, serving as the "Voice of
21	21		Real Estate" since 1911, issuing statistical analysis or
22	22		market conditions and offering legislative support to its
23	23		more than 5,000 members and the industry at large; and
24	24		WHEREAS, April 11, 2023, marked the 55th Anniversary
25	25		of the signing of the Fair Housing Act by President Lyndon
26	26		B. Johnson, and REALTORS® around the country were called
27	27		upon to celebrate Fair Housing Month; and
28	28		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®, and
29	29		its membership of over 5,000 REALTORS®, share the belief of
30	30		the National Association of REALTORS® that no person of this
31	31		country should have their right to rent or purchase the
32	32		shelter of their choice abridged because of race, color,
33	33		religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin,
34	34		sexual orientation, or gender identity; and
35	35		WHEREAS, the jurisdiction of the Birmingham

62	62		Association of REALTORS® encompasses all of Blount, Clay,
63	63		Chilton, Jefferson, Randolph, and Shelby Counties; and
64	64		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
65	65		launched a campaign to have 55 governmental units declare
66	66		April as Fair Housing Month and commemorate the 55th
67	67		Anniversary of the passage of this landmark Act; and
68	68		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
69	69		received proclamations from the County Commissions of
70	70		Blount, Clay, Chilton, Jefferson, Randolph, and Shelby
71	71		Counties; and
72	72		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
73	73		received proclamations from 49 individual municipalities;
74	74		and
75	75		WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
76	76		successfully executed the largest Fair Housing Celebration
77	77		in the State of Alabama; now therefore,
78	78		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
79	79		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the Birmingham Association
80	80		of REALTORS® is hereby commended for accomplishing such a
81	81		monumental task and continuing to be one of the strongest
82	82		voices in support of fair and attainable housing in the
83	83		State of Alabama.
