1616 FOR THE SUCCESSFUL FAIR HOUSING MONTH 55TH ANNIVERSARY
1717 PROCLAMATION TOUR.
1818 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS® is
1919 the premier resource for real estate information in
2020 Birmingham and Central Alabama, serving as the "Voice of
2121 Real Estate" since 1911, issuing statistical analysis or
2222 market conditions and offering legislative support to its
2323 more than 5,000 members and the industry at large; and
2424 WHEREAS, April 11, 2023, marked the 55th Anniversary
2525 of the signing of the Fair Housing Act by President Lyndon
2626 B. Johnson, and REALTORS® around the country were called
2727 upon to celebrate Fair Housing Month; and
2828 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®, and
2929 its membership of over 5,000 REALTORS®, share the belief of
3030 the National Association of REALTORS® that no person of this
3131 country should have their right to rent or purchase the
3232 shelter of their choice abridged because of race, color,
3333 religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin,
3434 sexual orientation, or gender identity; and
3535 WHEREAS, the jurisdiction of the Birmingham

6262 Association of REALTORS® encompasses all of Blount, Clay,
6363 Chilton, Jefferson, Randolph, and Shelby Counties; and
6464 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
6565 launched a campaign to have 55 governmental units declare
6666 April as Fair Housing Month and commemorate the 55th
6767 Anniversary of the passage of this landmark Act; and
6868 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
6969 received proclamations from the County Commissions of
7070 Blount, Clay, Chilton, Jefferson, Randolph, and Shelby
7171 Counties; and
7272 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
7373 received proclamations from 49 individual municipalities;
7474 and
7575 WHEREAS, the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®
7676 successfully executed the largest Fair Housing Celebration
7777 in the State of Alabama; now therefore,
7878 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
7979 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the Birmingham Association
8080 of REALTORS® is hereby commended for accomplishing such a
8181 monumental task and continuing to be one of the strongest
8282 voices in support of fair and attainable housing in the
8383 State of Alabama.
