16	15		CITY SEAL SWIM.
17	16		WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
18	17		recognize and highly honor the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New
19	18		York City SEAL Swim; and
20	19		WHEREAS, the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City
21	20		SEAL Swim will take place on August 19, 2023, and is a
22	21		multi-sport, open-water swimming event held in New York
23	22		City, New York, that brings together former SEALs, Veterans,
24	23		Police Officers, Firefighters, and First Responders from
25	24		across the country to help raise funds for its organization
26	25		that supports NAVY Seals and their families; and
27	26		WHEREAS, the event will start at the Empty Sky
28	27		Memorial in Liberty State Park in New Jersey and will end at
29	28		the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York; participants
30	29		will enter the Hudson River at Liberty State Park, New
31	30		Jersey, and swim to the Statue of Liberty, where they will
32	31		do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups for their nation’s
33	32		freedoms and civil liberties; the participants will then
34	33		swim from the Statue of Liberty to Ellis Island, where they
35	34		will do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups for their
36	35		nation’s diversity and all those who came to the nation
37	36		seeking a better life; participants will then swim across
38	37		the Hudson River to Battery Park, Manhattan, New York, where

68	67		they will grab American Flags and run to the World Trade
69	68		Center in Manhattan, New York; at the World Trade Center,
70	69		participants will do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups to
71	70		honor all those who lost their lives on 9/11, Extortion 17,
72	71		and all Americans who put their lives on the line for their
73	72		nation; and
74	73		WHEREAS, dedicated Navy Seal and proud Alabamian,
75	74		Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Richard Clifford, will
76	75		participate in the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City
77	76		SEAL Swim; LCDR Clifford joined the military in 1986 (BUDs
78	77		class 142); during his 31 years of active duty, he served
79	78		combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan; for his service in
80	79		Afghanistan, he received a Bronze Star and two Combat Action
81	80		Ribbons; he enlisted to Officer and retired in 2017 at the
82	81		rank of Lieutenant Commander; now therefore,
83	82		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
84	83		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we recognize and highly
85	84		honor the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City SEAL Swim,
86	85		and we hereby dedicate this resolution to the remarkable
87	86		event with utmost appreciation, admiration, and regard.
