14	13		HJR___ COMMENDING COACH MICHAEL RAY ROBERTSON ON HIS
15	14		INDUCTION INTO THE ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS HALL OF FAME
16	15		CLASS OF 2023.
17	16		WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
18	17		are proudly presented to Coach Michael Ray Robertson for
19	18		outstanding professional achievement on the occasion of his
20	19		being inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of
21	20		Fame Class of 2023; and
22	21		WHEREAS, a native of Gadsden, Alabama, Michael Ray
23	22		Robertson graduated as valedictorian from Hokes Bluff High
24	23		School in 1977; he was also an outstanding athlete, earning
25	24		All-County honors in three sports; he was quarterback on
26	25		state champion and runner-up teams; he played on three state
27	26		champion baseball teams, and his number 2 jersey was retired
28	27		in 1977; and
29	28		WHEREAS, Coach Robertson attended Gadsden State
30	29		Community College on a baseball scholarship and later
31	30		graduated from Athens State University in 1981 with a degree
32	31		in mathematics; he also has a master's degree from The
33	32		University of Alabama and an education degree from Lincoln
34	33		Memorial University; and
35	34		WHEREAS, Coach Robertson began his teaching and
36	35		coaching career in 1981 as an assistant coach at
37	36		Southside-Gadsden; he returned to his alma mater, Hokes

67	66		Bluff, in 1984, where he continues to coach today; he has
68	67		earned numerous Coach of the Year honors in three major
69	68		sports; and
70	69		WHEREAS, Coach Michael Robertson is one of 13 persons
71	70		selected for induction into the Alabama High School Sports
72	71		Hall of Fame's Class of 2023; the induction ceremony will
73	72		take place at a banquet held in Montgomery in March; now
74	73		therefore,
75	74		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
76	75		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Coach Michael Ray Robertson
77	76		is highly honored and commended, and this resolution is
78	77		offered to him in deepest admiration and appreciation, along
79	78		with sincere best wishes for all future endeavors.
