1414 HR____ COMMENDING MAYOR RANDY GARRISON FOR BEING ELECTED BY
1515 THE ALABAMA LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES AS ITS NEW PRESIDENT.
1616 WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
1717 highly commend Hartselle, Alabama, Mayor Randy Garrison for
1818 being elected by the Alabama League of Municipalities as its
1919 new President; and
2020 WHEREAS, over 750 municipal officials from around
2121 Alabama attended the Alabama League of Municipalities'
2222 three-day convention to discuss legislative issues, hear
2323 from state leaders, share resources, and conduct official
2424 business; the President and Vice President will serve in
2525 these capacities for one year and will represent the
2626 organization's 450-plus member cities and towns at meetings
2727 and events that aim to give municipalities a voice on local,
2828 state, and federal levels; and
2929 WHEREAS, Dothan, Alabama, Mayor Mark Saliba was
3030 elected by the Alabama League of Municipalities as its new
3131 Vice President; and
3232 WHEREAS, Mayor Garrison previously served as Vice
3333 Chair of the Alabama League of Municipalities' Committee on
3434 Community and Economic Development and represented the fifth
3535 congressional district on the League's Board of Directors;
3636 in November 2016, he was elected Mayor of Hartselle,
3737 Alabama, after serving as the publisher for the Hartselle

6868 WHEREAS, Mayor Garrison stated, "Being asked to serve
6969 in this position is very humbling, and I will do my best to
7070 serve to the level of leadership of those whose footsteps I
7171 follow. I look forward to working with the League's Board of
7272 Directors and staff in the coming year, as we strengthen
7373 local government through support and advocacy with state and
7474 federal lawmakers, as well as assist municipal officials
7575 from around the state with achieving greater, by continuing
7676 education certifications and increasing their exposure to
7777 resources"; and
7878 WHEREAS, a remarkable leader indeed who is passionate
7979 about serving others, Mayor Garrison inspires many; now
8080 therefore,
8181 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8282 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Hartselle, Alabama, Mayor Randy
8383 Garrison is highly commended for being elected by the
8484 Alabama League of Municipalities as its new President, and
8585 we hereby dedicate this resolution to him with utmost
8686 appreciation, admiration, and regard.
