14	14	HR____ COMMENDING MAYOR RANDY GARRISON FOR BEING ELECTED BY
15	15	THE ALABAMA LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES AS ITS NEW PRESIDENT.
16	16	WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
17	17	highly commend Hartselle, Alabama, Mayor Randy Garrison for
18	18	being elected by the Alabama League of Municipalities as its
19	19	new President; and
20	20	WHEREAS, over 750 municipal officials from around
21	21	Alabama attended the Alabama League of Municipalities'
22	22	three-day convention to discuss legislative issues, hear
23	23	from state leaders, share resources, and conduct official
24	24	business; the President and Vice President will serve in
25	25	these capacities for one year and will represent the
26	26	organization's 450-plus member cities and towns at meetings
27	27	and events that aim to give municipalities a voice on local,
28	28	state, and federal levels; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Dothan, Alabama, Mayor Mark Saliba was
30	30	elected by the Alabama League of Municipalities as its new
31	31	Vice President; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Mayor Garrison previously served as Vice
33	33	Chair of the Alabama League of Municipalities' Committee on
34	34	Community and Economic Development and represented the fifth
35	35	congressional district on the League's Board of Directors;
36	36	in November 2016, he was elected Mayor of Hartselle,
37	37	Alabama, after serving as the publisher for the Hartselle

68	68	WHEREAS, Mayor Garrison stated, "Being asked to serve
69	69	in this position is very humbling, and I will do my best to
70	70	serve to the level of leadership of those whose footsteps I
71	71	follow. I look forward to working with the League's Board of
72	72	Directors and staff in the coming year, as we strengthen
73	73	local government through support and advocacy with state and
74	74	federal lawmakers, as well as assist municipal officials
75	75	from around the state with achieving greater, by continuing
76	76	education certifications and increasing their exposure to
77	77	resources"; and
78	78	WHEREAS, a remarkable leader indeed who is passionate
79	79	about serving others, Mayor Garrison inspires many; now
80	80	therefore,
81	81	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
82	82	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Hartselle, Alabama, Mayor Randy
83	83	Garrison is highly commended for being elected by the
84	84	Alabama League of Municipalities as its new President, and
85	85	we hereby dedicate this resolution to him with utmost
86	86	appreciation, admiration, and regard.
