15	15	CITY SEAL SWIM.
16	16	WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, we
17	17	recognize and highly honor the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New
18	18	York City SEAL Swim; and
19	19	WHEREAS, the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City
20	20	SEAL Swim will take place on August 19, 2023, and is a
21	21	multi-sport, open-water swimming event held in New York
22	22	City, New York, that brings together former SEALs, Veterans,
23	23	Police Officers, Firefighters, and First Responders from
24	24	across the country to help raise funds for its organization
25	25	that supports NAVY Seals and their families; and
26	26	WHEREAS, the event will start at the Empty Sky
27	27	Memorial in Liberty State Park in New Jersey and will end at
28	28	the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York; participants
29	29	will enter the Hudson River at Liberty State Park, New
30	30	Jersey, and swim to the Statue of Liberty, where they will
31	31	do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups for their nation’s
32	32	freedoms and civil liberties; the participants will then
33	33	swim from the Statue of Liberty to Ellis Island, where they
34	34	will do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups for their
35	35	nation’s diversity and all those who came to the nation
36	36	seeking a better life; participants will then swim across
37	37	the Hudson River to Battery Park, Manhattan, New York, where

67	67	they will grab American Flags and run to the World Trade
68	68	Center in Manhattan, New York; at the World Trade Center,
69	69	participants will do 100 honor push-ups and 22 pull-ups to
70	70	honor all those who lost their lives on 9/11, Extortion 17,
71	71	and all Americans who put their lives on the line for their
72	72	nation; and
73	73	WHEREAS, dedicated Navy Seal and proud Alabamian,
74	74	Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Richard Clifford, will
75	75	participate in the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City
76	76	SEAL Swim; LCDR Clifford joined the military in 1986 (BUDs
77	77	class 142); during his 31 years of active duty, he served
78	78	combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan; for his service in
79	79	Afghanistan, he received a Bronze Star and two Combat Action
80	80	Ribbons; he enlisted to Officer and retired in 2017 at the
81	81	rank of Lieutenant Commander; now therefore,
82	82	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
83	83	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we recognize and highly honor
84	84	the 2023 Navy SEAL Foundation New York City SEAL Swim, and
85	85	we hereby dedicate this resolution to the remarkable event
86	86	with utmost appreciation, admiration, and regard.
