17+AN ACT
1518 Relating to Cherokee County; to authorize the Cherokee
1619 County Commission to levy and provide for the collection of an
1720 additional vehicle license and registration fee on each
1821 vehicle license and registration, transfer, or renewal of any
1922 vehicle in the county; and to provide for distribution of the
2023 proceeds from the fees to the sheriff and the district
2124 attorney.
2225 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2326 Section 1.(a) The Cherokee County Commission may levy
2427 and provide for the collection of an additional vehicle
2528 license and registration issuance fee in the amount of three
2629 dollars and seventy-five cents ($3.75) on each new
2730 registration, transfer, or renewal on any vehicle in the
2831 county. The Revenue Commissioner of the county or other
2932 license issuing officials shall collect the issuance fee on
3033 each new registration, transfer, or renewal on a vehicle in
3134 the county. The fee shall be in addition to all other fees,
3235 taxes, and other charges provided for the license and
3336 registration of a vehicle.
3437 (b) The proceeds from the additional issuance fees upon
35-collection shall be distributed on a monthly basis by the
36-Revenue Commissioner as follows:
37-(1) One dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) shall be
38-distributed to the District Attorney to be deposited in the
39-solicitor's fund. The proceeds from the fees shall be used for
40-law enforcement purposes and for the prosecution of crimes in

67+collection shall be distributed on a monthly basis by the
68+Revenue Commissioner as follows:
69+(1) One dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) shall be
70+distributed to the District Attorney to be deposited in the

7173 (2) Two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) shall be
7274 distributed to the sheriff of the county to be deposited in
7375 the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund. The proceeds from the fees
7476 shall be used for law enforcement purposes.
7577 (c) The proceeds from the fees and the use of the fees
7678 shall not diminish or take the place of any other source of
7779 funding of the District Attorney's office or sheriff's office
7880 in the county.
7981 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first
8082 day of the third month following its passage and approval by
8183 the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
