| 18 | 18 | | Relating to Mobile County; to provide further for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sheriff's compensation by an annual expense allowance to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | expire at the end of the current term of office; to add an |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | amount equal to the temporary expense allowance to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | sheriff's annual salary commencing with the next term of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | office. |

| 24 | 24 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: |

| 25 | 25 | | Section 1. (a) The Sheriff of Mobile County shall |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | receive an expense allowance of thirty-three thousand dollars |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | ($33,000) per year, payable in equal monthly installments from |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the general fund of the county. This expense allowance shall |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be in addition to all other compensation or benefits granted |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | to the sheriff and may be treated as compensation for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | retirement benefits. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (b) Effective beginning the next term of office, the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | annual salary of the Sheriff of Mobile County shall be |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | increased by thirty-three thousand dollars ($33,000) and the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | expense allowance provided for in subsection (a) shall become |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | void. |

| 37 | 37 | | (c) The Sheriff of Mobile County shall receive the same |
