15+SYNOPSIS:
16+This bill would propose a local constitutional
17+amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022,
18+relating to Geneva County, that would allow mayors of
19+municipalities located in the county to participate in
20+the Employees' Retirement System under certain
21+conditions.

1525 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama
1626 of 2022, relating to Geneva County, to allow mayors of
1727 municipalities in the county to participate in the Employees'
1828 Retirement System under certain conditions.
1929 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2030 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution
2131 of Alabama of 2022, is proposed and shall become valid as a
2232 part of the constitution when all requirements of this act are
2333 fulfilled:
2434 PROPOSED AMENDMENT
2535 In Geneva County, mayors of municipalities that
2636 participate in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama may
27-participate in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama
28-upon the same terms and conditions as may be specified by law
29-for any other employee in the same retirement system. A mayor
30-holding office at the time of the ratification of this
31-amendment shall be eligible to purchase service credit in the
32-Employees' Retirement System for the time the official has
33-served in the current office. No individual may participate in
34-both a supernumerary program and the Employees' Retirement
35-System based on the same service.
36-Upon ratification of this constitutional amendment, the
37-Code Commissioner shall number and place this amendment as
38-appropriate in the constitution omitting this instructional
39-paragraph and may make the following nonsubstantive revisions:
40-change capitalization, spelling, and punctuation for purposes

7686 this state.
7787 Section 3. The appropriate election official shall
7888 assign a ballot number for the proposed constitutional
7989 amendment on the election ballot and shall set forth the
8090 following description of the substance or subject matter of
8191 the proposed constitutional amendment:
8292 "Relating to Geneva County, proposing an amendment to
8393 the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to allow mayors to
