14	13		SJR___ COMMENDING JOHN AND ANN BOUTWELL FOR BEING AWARDED
15	14		THE INAUGURAL DANIEL PRATT INDUSTRIALIST AWARD.
16	15		WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
17	16		are proudly presented to John and Ann Boutwell for being
18	17		awarded the inaugural 2023 Daniel Pratt Industrialist Award;
19	18		and
20	19		WHEREAS, the City of Prattville Industrial
21	20		Development Board established the Daniel Pratt Industrialist
22	21		Award to celebrate visionary business leaders, companies,
23	22		and organizations whose innovation and dedication have
24	23		helped build a strong and vibrant community in Prattville
25	24		and Autauga County; and
26	25		WHEREAS, in the early 1990s, John and Ann Boutwell
27	26		began their quest to preserve the rich history of Alabama's
28	27		first industrialist, Daniel Pratt; Mr. Pratt introduced the
29	28		Industrial Revolution to the South and had a tremendous
30	29		influence on the culture of our state; and
31	30		WHEREAS, in 1996, John and Ann Boutwell were
32	31		instrumental in the campaign to revitalize and save historic
33	32		downtown Prattville; they were the visionaries who
34	33		spearheaded plans for the 1999 Daniel Pratt Alabama Year of
35	34		Industry Celebration, which included exhibits, contests, and
36	35		concerts throughout the year; and
37	36		WHEREAS, today, there has been tremendous growth in

68	67		development, The Mill Apartment Complex, with sweeping views
69	68		of the city's historic downtown, Autauga Creek, and the
70	69		picturesque millpond dam; and
71	70		WHEREAS, the 2023 Daniel Pratt Industrialist Award
72	71		was presented to John and Ann Boutwell because without their
73	72		perseverance, determination, and commitment to the
74	73		community, Mr. Pratt's vision would have been lost forever;
75	74		now therefore,
76	75		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
77	76		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That John and Ann Boutwell are
78	77		honored and commended for winning the inaugural 2023 Daniel
79	78		Pratt Industrialist Award, and this resolution is offered to
80	79		them in deepest admiration and appreciation, along with
81	80		sincere best wishes for all future endeavors.
