16	15		SJR___ NAMING THE PORTION OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY ROUTE 43
17	16		FROM MILE MARKER 212 TO MILE MARKER 213 THE AUDRA ROGERS
18	17		MEMORIAL MILE.
19	18		WHEREAS, in memory of Audra Mary Rogers, this body
20	19		renames that portion of United States Highway Route 43 from
21	20		mile marker 212 to 213, which lies just north of Northport
22	21		Alabama, as the Audra Rogers Memorial Mile; and
23	22		WHEREAS, on July 5, 2021, Ms. Rogers, who was
24	23		pregnant with her fifth child, and her four young sons were
25	24		hit head on in an accident that caused her and her unborn
26	25		child's death and injured her surviving children; and
27	26		WHEREAS, the loss of Ms. Rogers is devastating to her
28	27		family and community where she was highly regarded; Audra
29	28		was an accomplished bodybuilder and a three-time state
30	29		record holder in powerlifting; she was a beauty queen and
31	30		held the title of 2021 World's Ms. Alabama Tourism; she was
32	31		a respiratory therapist and first responder; and she was a
33	32		community volunteer; but, most importantly, she was a
34	33		devoted mother, daughter, and friend; and
35	34		WHEREAS, Audra was an inspiration to many who
36	35		followed her fitness and weightlifting journey on social

65	64		humor; now therefore,
66	65		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
67	66		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That, in memory of Audra Mary
68	67		Rogers, the portion of United States Highway Route 43
69	68		between mile marker 212 and 213 is hereby renamed and
70	69		designated the Audra Rogers Memorial Mile.
71	70		BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Department of
72	71		Transportation is requested to coordinate with local
73	72		governing officials on fabricating and erecting appropriate
74	73		signs or markers, consistent with applicable requirements
75	74		and laws, in recognition of this honorary designation.
