17+SYNOPSIS:
18+This bill would propose an amendment to the
19+Constitution of Alabama of 2022, relating to Covington
20+County, to authorize the Legislature to fix, alter, and
21+regulate court costs in the county and provide for
22+their distribution.

25+AN ACT
1826 To propose an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama
1927 of 2022, relating to Covington County, to authorize the
2028 Legislature to fix, alter, and regulate court costs in the
2129 county and provide for their distribution.
2230 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2331 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution
2432 of Alabama of 2022, is proposed:
2533 PROPOSED AMENDMENT
2634 The Legislature, by local law, may fix, alter, and
2735 regulate court costs in Covington County and provide for
2836 distribution of the costs.
2937 Upon ratification of this constitutional amendment, the
3038 Code Commissioner shall number and place this amendment as
31-appropriate in the constitution omitting this instructional
32-paragraph and may make the following nonsubstantive revisions:
33-change capitalization, hierarchy, spelling, and punctuation
34-for purposes of style and uniformity; correct manifest
35-grammatical, clerical, and typographical errors; revise
36-internal or external citations and cross-references; and
37-translate effective dates.
38-END PROPOSED AMENDMENT
39-Section 2. An election upon the proposed amendment
40-shall be held in accordance with Sections 284, 284.01, and 285
41-of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, and the election laws
42-of this state. The appropriate election official shall assign
43-a ballot number for the proposed constitutional amendment on
44-the election ballot and shall set forth the following
