1515 SYNOPSIS:
1616 This bill would authorize the state to establish
1717 concurrent jurisdiction for criminal offenses committed
1818 by juveniles on military installations.

2222 Relating to juveniles; to authorize the state to
2323 establish concurrent jurisdiction for criminal offenses
2424 committed by juveniles on military installations.
2525 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2626 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
2727 the state shall exercise concurrent jurisdiction with the
2828 United States over a military installation of the United
2929 States Department of Defense located within this state in a
3030 matter relating to a violation of federal law by a juvenile
3131 within the boundaries of that military installation, if all of
3232 the following criteria are met:
3333 (1) The United States Attorney or the United States
3434 District Court for the applicable district in this state
3535 waives exclusive jurisdiction.
3636 (2) The violation of federal law is also a crime under

6666 (2) The violation of federal law is also a crime under
6767 state law.
6868 Section 2. When concurrent jurisdiction has been
6969 established pursuant to Section 1, the juvenile court, as
7070 defined in Section 12-15-102, Code of Alabama 1975, has
7171 exclusive original jurisdiction over any case involving a
7272 juvenile, as defined in Section 12-15- who is alleged to be
7373 delinquent as the result of an act committed within the
7474 boundaries of a military installation that is a crime under
7575 state law.
7676 Section 3. This act shall become effective on October
7777 1, 2024.
