16	18		Relating to St. Clair County; providing for an
17	19		additional expense allowance and salary for the coroner and
18	20		deputy coroner.
19	21		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
20	22		Section 1. (a) Commencing on October 1, 2024, the
21	23		Coroner of St. Clair County shall be entitled to an additional
22	24		expense allowance in the amount of five hundred twenty-five
23	25		dollars ($525) per month, which shall be in addition to all
24	26		other expense allowances, compensation, or salary provided by
25	27		law. This expense allowance shall be payable monthly from the
26	28		general fund of the county.
27	29		(b) Beginning with the expiration of the term of the
28	30		incumbent coroner, the expense allowance for the coroner
29	31		provided in subsection (a) and any other expense allowance
30	32		provided for the coroner prior to the effect date of this act
31	33		shall be converted to salary, payable monthly from the general
32	34		fund of the county and at that time subsection (a) and any
33	35		other expense allowance provided to the coroner prior to the
34	36		effective date of this act shall become void.
35		-	Section 2. (a) Commencing on October 1, 2024, the
36		-	Deputy Coroner of St. Clair County shall be entitled to an
37		-	additional expense allowance in the amount of two thousand six
38		-	hundred dollars ($2600) per year, which shall be in addition
39		-	to all other expense allowances, compensation, or salary
40		-	provided by law. This expense allowance shall be payable
41		-	monthly from the general fund of the county.

	66	+	Section 2. (a) Commencing on October 1, 2024, the
	67	+	Deputy Coroner of St. Clair County shall be entitled to an
	68	+	additional expense allowance in the amount of two thousand six
	69	+	hundred dollars ($2600) per year, which shall be in addition
	70	+	to all other expense allowances, compensation, or salary
	71	+	provided by law. This expense allowance shall be payable
71	72		monthly from the general fund of the county.
72	73		(b) Beginning with the expiration of the term of the
73	74		incumbent coroner, any expense allowance for the deputy
74	75		coroner provided in subsection (a) and any other expense
75	76		allowances provided for the assistant coroner or deputy
76	77		coroner of the county by any names known prior to the
77	78		effective date of this act shall be converted to salary and at
78	79		that time subsection (a) and any other expense allowance
79	80		provided to the deputy coroner or the assistant coroner shall
80	81		become void. The position shall be known as the Deputy Coroner
81	82		of St. Clair County and the salary shall be payable monthly
82	83		from the general fund of the county
83	84		Section 3. This act shall become effective on October
84	85		1, 2024, upon its passage and approval by the Governor, or
85	86		upon its otherwise becoming a law.
