1618 Relating to Calhoun County; to amend Section 1 of Acts
1719 1978, No. 117 (Acts 1978, p. 1832), and to replace Section
1820 45-8-200.01, Code of Alabama 1975, as added by Acts 1965, No.
1921 154 (Acts 1965, p. 218), which act was repealed by Acts 1978,
2022 No. 117 (Acts 1978, p. 1832); and to further provide for the
2123 compensation of the license commissioner.
2224 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2325 Section 1. Section 1 of Acts 1978, No. 117 (Acts 1978,
2426 p. 1832), is amended to read as follows:
2527 "The license commissioner presently serving in Calhoun
2628 County shall continue in that office until his successor is
2729 elected, in the 1980 primary or general election, and assumes
2830 office in January, 1981. (a) Commencing with the election of
2931 the license commissioner in the 1980 election, the term of
3032 office shall be for six years from January , 1981, and shall be
3133 filled by the majority of the qualified electors voting
3234 thereon at the primary or general election held , in 1980, for
3335 county-wide offices which terms commence in 1981 , and every
3436 six years thereafter.
3537 (b) Notice of the election shall be given by the judge
36-of probate, which notice shall be published once a week for
37-three successive weeks before the day of the election.
38-(c) Candidates for the office shall qualify as other
39-candidates for county office.
40-(d) The judge of probate shall certify the results of
41-the election to the Secretary of State in the same manner as
42-is required for all local or general elections.

67+(b) Notice of the election shall be given by the judge
68+of probate, which notice shall be published once a week for

7375 (e) Beginning with the new term of office in January
7476 1981, and thereafter, the commissioner of license shall
7577 receive an annual salary of twenty-two thousand five hundred
7678 thousand dollars ($22,500). Such salary shall be paid from the
7779 county treasury in the same manner as other county officers'
7880 salaries are paid."
7981 Section 2. (a) Effective July 1, 2024, the commissioner
8082 of licenses shall receive an additional expense allowance
8183 equal to 12.5 percent of the commissioner's salary on June 1,
8284 2024, payable in equal monthly installments from the general
8385 fund of the county. The expense allowance shall be in addition
8486 to all other compensation, expense allowances, or benefits
8587 granted to the commissioner.
8688 (b) Beginning with the next term of office after July
8789 1, 2024, the commissioner of licenses shall receive an annual
8890 salary equal to 112.5 percent of the commissioner's salary on
8991 June 1, 2024, and the expense allowance in subsection (a)
9092 shall be void.
9193 Section 3. This act shall become effective on June 1,
9294 2024.
