19+AN ACT
1820 Relating to Jacksonville State University; to amend
1921 Section 16-52-3, Code of Alabama 1975, to increase and revise
2022 the at-large membership of the board of trustees to include
2123 four at-large members, two of whom reside within this state
2224 and two of whom reside outside of this state.
2325 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2426 Section 1. Section 16-52-3 of the Code of Alabama 1975,
2527 is amended to read as follows:
2628 "ยง16-52-3
2729 (a) There is created a Board of Trustees for
2830 Jacksonville State University, the state educational
2931 institution formerly known as Jacksonville State College at
3032 Jacksonville, Alabama.
3133 (b) The board of trustees shall consist of two members
3234 from the congressional district in which the institution is
3335 located, one from each of the other congressional districts in
3436 the state, one two at-large member members from the this
3537 state, one two at-large member members from members who reside
3638 either within or outside of the this state, and the Governor,
3739 who shall be ex officio president of the board.
38-(c) The trustees shall be appointed by the Governor, by
39-and with the advice and consent of the Senate and , commencing
40-on May 26, 2015, shall be appointed to hold office for a term
41-of six years and until their successors shall be appointed and
42-qualified. No trustee shall be appointed to serve more than a
43-total of three full terms.
44-(d) No trustee shall receive any pay or emolument other

70+(c) The trustees shall be appointed by the Governor, by

7476 (d) No trustee shall receive any pay or emolument other
7577 than his or her actual expenses incurred in the discharge of
7678 his or her duties as such.
7779 (e) A trustee who has attained the age of 75 years
7880 during a term of office may continue to serve until the
7981 expiration of that term. A trustee who has departed the board
8082 and who has attained the age of 70 years or older may be
8183 designated by the board as a Trustee Emeritus and may receive
8284 such honorary privileges as conferred by the board.
8385 (f) No employee of Jacksonville State University shall
8486 be eligible to serve on its board of trustees."
8587 Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately.
