Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to Escambia County; to amend Section 2 of Act
101 of the 1963 Regular Session (Acts 1963, p.280), relating
to public roads and bridges in the county, to make permissive
the requirement that the county engineer reside in the county.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. Section 2 of Act 101 of the 1963 Regular
Session (Acts 1963, p.280) is amended to read as follows:
"Section 2. Immediately after the effective date of
this Act, the Board of Revenue The Escambia County Commission
shall appoint a county engineer for Escambia County to serve
at the pleasure of the Board commission. The county engineer
shall possess all the qualifications prescribed for county
engineers by the general laws of Alabama. HeThe county
engineer shall have general supervision of the road and bridge
work of the county, under the direction of the Board of
Revenue commission. The Board commission shall fix the salary
of the county engineer, which shall be paid in equal monthly
installments from the road and bridge funds of the county. The
county engineer shall may reside in Escambia County during his
or her term of employment." 
Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1,
2024.
