HR____ DESIGNATING CHRIS "THE GAMBLER" BLACKSHEAR AS MOST
VALUABLE PLAYER OF THE "BATTLE OF GOAT HILL" LEGISLATIVE
CHARITY SOFTBALL GAME AND COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT
STADTHAGEN FOR A COMMANDING ALL-ON-THE-LINE PERFORMANCE.
WHEREAS, the third installment of the "Battle of Goat
Hill" legislative charity softball game occurred on March
20, 2024, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the
AA Montgomery Biscuits; and
WHEREAS, the "Battle of Goat Hill" legislative
charity softball game is conducted for the benefit of Big
Oak Ranch, a faith-focused home for boys and girls; and
WHEREAS, among the many great performances in the
13-1 clobbering that the House of Representatives gave to
the Senate, two of the House members distinguished
themselves; and
WHEREAS, Representative Chris Blackshear's
outstanding contributions to the box score deserve special
acclaim; the jack-of-all-trades from Phenix City displayed
particular prowess as king of the mound, where he offered an
ace pitching performance; the Senate narrowly avoided a
shutout with their sole last-inning run; and
WHEREAS, Representative Chris "The Gambler"
Blackshear also notched a clutch bombing RBI hit down the
right baseline that exemplified the House's domination in

right baseline that exemplified the House's domination in
the batter's box; as he sauntered to the plate accompanied
by the sweet dulcet tones of Kenny Rogers, his opponents
quivered with fear; with such a powerful combined
performance, the veteran lawmaker and amateur ball player
dealt the House a winning hand and earned the Most Valuable
Player award; and
WHEREAS, the House would be remiss if they did not
note a commanding performance by the Majority Leader,
Representative Scott Stadthagen; after hitting the jumbotron
during pregame batting practice, the Leader rounded out the
top of the House lineup with big hits, time after time; the
Majority Leader also anchored the defense at third base,
standing out amongst solid infield play by the entire House
squad; and
WHEREAS, Representative Stadthagen did all of this
with an injured rib that probably should have placed him in
the Injured Reserve with most of his colleagues;
Representative Scott Stadthagen, a close runner-up for Most
Valuable Player, has truly earned the first-ever (and
perhaps only-ever) "All-on-the-Line" award; and
WHEREAS, the lawyer members and legal minds of the
House urge that we take this opportunity to make it clear
that the House does not encourage its members to "follow the
Leader" by pushing their injuries during competitive sports;
and
WHEREAS, despite the preceding legal disclaimer, it
is difficult to argue with the results of these two
Representatives' efforts, and so we laud them with the

Representatives' efforts, and so we laud them with the
congratulations they deserve in securing the House’s
cathartic victory over the Senate; now therefore,

ALABAMA, That this body designates Representative Chris
Blackshear as the Most Valuable Player of the "Battle of
Goat Hill" legislative charity softball game, and commends
Representative Scott Stadthagen for his commanding all-on
the-line performance.
