49	49	WHEREAS, the third installment of the "Battle of Goat
50	50	Hill" legislative charity softball game occurred on March
51	51	20, 2024, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the
52	52	AA Montgomery Biscuits; and
53	53	WHEREAS, the "Battle of Goat Hill" legislative
54	54	charity softball game is conducted for the benefit of Big
55	55	Oak Ranch, a faith-focused home for boys and girls; and
56	56	WHEREAS, among the many great performances in the
57	57	13-1 clobbering that the House of Representatives gave to
58	58	the Senate, two of the House members distinguished
59	59	themselves; and
60	60	WHEREAS, Representative Chris Blackshear's
61	61	outstanding contributions to the box score deserve special
62	62	acclaim; the jack-of-all-trades from Phenix City displayed
63	63	particular prowess as king of the mound, where he offered an
64	64	ace pitching performance; the Senate narrowly avoided a
65	65	shutout with their sole last-inning run; and
66	66	WHEREAS, Representative Chris "The Gambler"
67	67	Blackshear also notched a clutch bombing RBI hit down the
68	68	right baseline that exemplified the House's domination in

99	99	the batter's box; as he sauntered to the plate accompanied
100	100	by the sweet dulcet tones of Kenny Rogers, his opponents
101	101	quivered with fear; with such a powerful combined
102	102	performance, the veteran lawmaker and amateur ball player
103	103	dealt the House a winning hand and earned the Most Valuable
104	104	Player award; and
105	105	WHEREAS, the House would be remiss if they did not
106	106	note a commanding performance by the Majority Leader,
107	107	Representative Scott Stadthagen; after hitting the jumbotron
108	108	during pregame batting practice, the Leader rounded out the
109	109	top of the House lineup with big hits, time after time; the
110	110	Majority Leader also anchored the defense at third base,
111	111	standing out amongst solid infield play by the entire House
112	112	squad; and
113	113	WHEREAS, Representative Stadthagen did all of this
114	114	with an injured rib that probably should have placed him in
115	115	the Injured Reserve with most of his colleagues;
116	116	Representative Scott Stadthagen, a close runner-up for Most
117	117	Valuable Player, has truly earned the first-ever (and
118	118	perhaps only-ever) "All-on-the-Line" award; and
119	119	WHEREAS, the lawyer members and legal minds of the
120	120	House urge that we take this opportunity to make it clear
121	121	that the House does not encourage its members to "follow the
122	122	Leader" by pushing their injuries during competitive sports;
123	123	and
124	124	WHEREAS, despite the preceding legal disclaimer, it
125	125	is difficult to argue with the results of these two
126	126	Representatives' efforts, and so we laud them with the

157	157	congratulations they deserve in securing the House’s
158	158	cathartic victory over the Senate; now therefore,
159	159	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
160	160	ALABAMA, That this body designates Representative Chris
161	161	Blackshear as the Most Valuable Player of the "Battle of
162	162	Goat Hill" legislative charity softball game, and commends
163	163	Representative Scott Stadthagen for his commanding all-on
164	164	the-line performance.
