4646 VALUABLE PLAYER OF THE "BATTLE OF GOAT HILL" LEGISLATIVE
4747 CHARITY SOFTBALL GAME AND COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE SCOTT
4848 STADTHAGEN FOR A COMMANDING ALL-ON-THE-LINE PERFORMANCE.
4949 WHEREAS, the third installment of the "Battle of Goat
5050 Hill" legislative charity softball game occurred on March
5151 20, 2024, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the
5252 AA Montgomery Biscuits; and
5353 WHEREAS, the "Battle of Goat Hill" legislative
5454 charity softball game is conducted for the benefit of Big
5555 Oak Ranch, a faith-focused home for boys and girls; and
5656 WHEREAS, among the many great performances in the
5757 13-1 clobbering that the House of Representatives gave to
5858 the Senate, two of the House members distinguished
5959 themselves; and
6060 WHEREAS, Representative Chris Blackshear's
6161 outstanding contributions to the box score deserve special
6262 acclaim; the jack-of-all-trades from Phenix City displayed
6363 particular prowess as king of the mound, where he offered an
6464 ace pitching performance; the Senate narrowly avoided a
6565 shutout with their sole last-inning run; and
6666 WHEREAS, Representative Chris "The Gambler"
6767 Blackshear also notched a clutch bombing RBI hit down the
6868 right baseline that exemplified the House's domination in

9898 right baseline that exemplified the House's domination in
9999 the batter's box; as he sauntered to the plate accompanied
100100 by the sweet dulcet tones of Kenny Rogers, his opponents
101101 quivered with fear; with such a powerful combined
102102 performance, the veteran lawmaker and amateur ball player
103103 dealt the House a winning hand and earned the Most Valuable
104104 Player award; and
105105 WHEREAS, the House would be remiss if they did not
106106 note a commanding performance by the Majority Leader,
107107 Representative Scott Stadthagen; after hitting the jumbotron
108108 during pregame batting practice, the Leader rounded out the
109109 top of the House lineup with big hits, time after time; the
110110 Majority Leader also anchored the defense at third base,
111111 standing out amongst solid infield play by the entire House
112112 squad; and
113113 WHEREAS, Representative Stadthagen did all of this
114114 with an injured rib that probably should have placed him in
115115 the Injured Reserve with most of his colleagues;
116116 Representative Scott Stadthagen, a close runner-up for Most
117117 Valuable Player, has truly earned the first-ever (and
118118 perhaps only-ever) "All-on-the-Line" award; and
119119 WHEREAS, the lawyer members and legal minds of the
120120 House urge that we take this opportunity to make it clear
121121 that the House does not encourage its members to "follow the
122122 Leader" by pushing their injuries during competitive sports;
123123 and
124124 WHEREAS, despite the preceding legal disclaimer, it
125125 is difficult to argue with the results of these two
126126 Representatives' efforts, and so we laud them with the
