HR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF SALLIE
BELL EPHRAIM MCMILLAN.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
death of Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan of Birmingham,
Alabama, on February 10, 2024, at the age of 98; and 
WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
was highly regarded; and 
WHEREAS, Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan was born on
April 13, 1925, in Camden, Alabama, to Daniel and Pearlie
Ephraim; she was the eighth of nine children born into the
joyful home of her loving parents and was predeceased by all
of her siblings; she was a 1944 graduate of Camden Academy
and matriculated to and graduated from Knoxville College;
she became a teacher and taught at various schools in
Alabama, including Canton Bend in Wilcox County, Pittman
Junior High School and Westfield High School in Jefferson
County, and R.R. Moton High School in Leeds; she was a
lifetime member of the Alabama Teachers Association and was
professionally affiliated with the American Education
Association, the National Education Association, and the
Alabama Association of Retired Teachers; and 
WHEREAS, Sallie Ephraim met the love of her life,
Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married

Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married
on December 17, 1955; they were blessed with a daughter,
Carole McMillan Kidd, who, with her husband, Porter,
expanded their family; Mrs. McMillan became grandmother to
Kovin Michler Kidd, Fitzporter McMillan Kidd, and Elston
Ephraim Kidd; and was further blessed with three
great-grandchildren; she enjoyed photographing and
cataloging family and friends at gatherings and events; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. McMillan was a devoted servant of
Christ; she faithfully attended worship services as a member
of New Pilgrim Baptist Church; her favorite hymn was My God
Is Real (Yes, God Is Real) by Kenneth Morris and her
favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways
acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths"; and
WHEREAS, although her presence will be greatly
missed, the memory of Mrs. McMillan will be cherished in the
hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Sallie Bell
Ephraim McMillan is recorded with deep sadness, and this
resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
shared by many.
