1515 HR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF SALLIE
1616 BELL EPHRAIM MCMILLAN.
1717 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
1818 death of Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan of Birmingham,
1919 Alabama, on February 10, 2024, at the age of 98; and
2020 WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
2121 her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
2222 was highly regarded; and
2323 WHEREAS, Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan was born on
2424 April 13, 1925, in Camden, Alabama, to Daniel and Pearlie
2525 Ephraim; she was the eighth of nine children born into the
2626 joyful home of her loving parents and was predeceased by all
2727 of her siblings; she was a 1944 graduate of Camden Academy
2828 and matriculated to and graduated from Knoxville College;
2929 she became a teacher and taught at various schools in
3030 Alabama, including Canton Bend in Wilcox County, Pittman
3131 Junior High School and Westfield High School in Jefferson
3232 County, and R.R. Moton High School in Leeds; she was a
3333 lifetime member of the Alabama Teachers Association and was
3434 professionally affiliated with the American Education
3535 Association, the National Education Association, and the
3636 Alabama Association of Retired Teachers; and
3737 WHEREAS, Sallie Ephraim met the love of her life,
3838 Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married

6868 Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married
6969 on December 17, 1955; they were blessed with a daughter,
7070 Carole McMillan Kidd, who, with her husband, Porter,
7171 expanded their family; Mrs. McMillan became grandmother to
7272 Kovin Michler Kidd, Fitzporter McMillan Kidd, and Elston
7373 Ephraim Kidd; and was further blessed with three
7474 great-grandchildren; she enjoyed photographing and
7575 cataloging family and friends at gatherings and events; and
7676 WHEREAS, Mrs. McMillan was a devoted servant of
7777 Christ; she faithfully attended worship services as a member
7878 of New Pilgrim Baptist Church; her favorite hymn was My God
7979 Is Real (Yes, God Is Real) by Kenneth Morris and her
8080 favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways
8181 acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths"; and
8282 WHEREAS, although her presence will be greatly
8383 missed, the memory of Mrs. McMillan will be cherished in the
8484 hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore,
8585 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8686 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Sallie Bell
8787 Ephraim McMillan is recorded with deep sadness, and this
8888 resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
8989 and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
9090 shared by many.
