15	15	HR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF SALLIE
16	16	BELL EPHRAIM MCMILLAN.
17	17	WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
18	18	death of Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan of Birmingham,
19	19	Alabama, on February 10, 2024, at the age of 98; and
20	20	WHEREAS, her departure leaves a void in the lives of
21	21	her loving family, many friends, and the community where she
22	22	was highly regarded; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Sallie Bell Ephraim McMillan was born on
24	24	April 13, 1925, in Camden, Alabama, to Daniel and Pearlie
25	25	Ephraim; she was the eighth of nine children born into the
26	26	joyful home of her loving parents and was predeceased by all
27	27	of her siblings; she was a 1944 graduate of Camden Academy
28	28	and matriculated to and graduated from Knoxville College;
29	29	she became a teacher and taught at various schools in
30	30	Alabama, including Canton Bend in Wilcox County, Pittman
31	31	Junior High School and Westfield High School in Jefferson
32	32	County, and R.R. Moton High School in Leeds; she was a
33	33	lifetime member of the Alabama Teachers Association and was
34	34	professionally affiliated with the American Education
35	35	Association, the National Education Association, and the
36	36	Alabama Association of Retired Teachers; and
37	37	WHEREAS, Sallie Ephraim met the love of her life,
38	38	Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married

68	68	Leon Cornelius McMillan of Burnt Corn, Alabama; they married
69	69	on December 17, 1955; they were blessed with a daughter,
70	70	Carole McMillan Kidd, who, with her husband, Porter,
71	71	expanded their family; Mrs. McMillan became grandmother to
72	72	Kovin Michler Kidd, Fitzporter McMillan Kidd, and Elston
73	73	Ephraim Kidd; and was further blessed with three
74	74	great-grandchildren; she enjoyed photographing and
75	75	cataloging family and friends at gatherings and events; and
76	76	WHEREAS, Mrs. McMillan was a devoted servant of
77	77	Christ; she faithfully attended worship services as a member
78	78	of New Pilgrim Baptist Church; her favorite hymn was My God
79	79	Is Real (Yes, God Is Real) by Kenneth Morris and her
80	80	favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways
81	81	acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths"; and
82	82	WHEREAS, although her presence will be greatly
83	83	missed, the memory of Mrs. McMillan will be cherished in the
84	84	hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore,
85	85	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
86	86	LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Sallie Bell
87	87	Ephraim McMillan is recorded with deep sadness, and this
88	88	resolution is offered to her family in tribute to her life
89	89	and with heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones whose grief is
90	90	shared by many.
