15+SYNOPSIS:
16+Under existing law, the Board of Medical
17+Scholarship Awards grants scholarships and makes loans
18+to medical students.
19+This bill would create the Board of Medical
20+Scholarship Awards Fund in the State Treasury, require
21+monies received by the board from the repayment of
22+loans, fees, donations, grants, and bequests to be
23+deposited in the fund and continuously appropriate the
24+fund for granting scholarships and making loans to
25+medical students.

1728 AN ACT
1829 Relating to the Board of Medical Scholarship Awards; to
1930 amend Section 16-47-123.1, Code of Alabama 1975; to create the
2031 Board of Medical Scholarship Awards Fund in the State Treasury
2132 and continuously appropriate the fund for granting
2233 scholarships or making loans to medical students.
2334 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2435 Section 1. Section 16-47-123.1 of the Code of Alabama
2536 1975, is amended to read as follows:
26-"§16-47-123.1
27-(a) The Board of Medical Scholarship Awards Fund is
28-hereby created in the State Treasury. All monies received by
29-the board pursuant to Section 16-47-125 or Section 16-47-127
30-and from fees, gifts, donations, grants, and bequests shall be
31-deposited in the fund and are continuously appropriated for
32-granting scholarships or making loans to medical students.
33-(b) The board shall establish the fiscal requirements
34-for its annual administration expenses, which may be paid from
35-funds from any source which are available to the board."
36-Section 2. The provisions of this act are declaratory
37-of, and do not constitute a change in, existing law.
