SYNOPSIS:
This bill would authorize county sheriffs to
conduct fundraising events within their respective
counties and would provide for the proceeds of the
events to support the operations of their respective
offices.
A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to sheriffs; to authorize sheriffs to conduct
fundraising events within their respective counties; to
provide for the proceeds of a fundraising event to support the
operations of their respective offices; and to ratify and
confirm certain prior actions.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) A county sheriff may conduct fundraising
events within his or her respective county including, but not
limited to, rodeos and may use the proceeds and profits from
the events for any lawful purpose relating to the operation of
the office of the sheriff.
(b) This section is remedial and curative and any
actions taken by a sheriff in conformance with subsection (a)

actions taken by a sheriff in conformance with subsection (a)
are ratified and confirmed.
Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately.
