18	18	Relating to Choctaw County; to provide for the
19	19	assessment of additional court costs in certain civil,
20	20	criminal, or quasi-criminal proceedings in the circuit court
21	21	and district court and in any municipal court in Choctaw
22	22	County; to provide that the costs, upon collection, shall be
23	23	distributed to a special fund, designated as the "Jail Fund,"
24	24	in the county treasury to be expended by the county for paying
25	25	the costs of maintaining, repairing, and operating the county
26	26	jail and jail complex and for paying any indebtedness incurred
27	27	for the construction of the county jail and jail complex.
28	28	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
29	29	Section 1. (a) In addition to any court costs
30	30	authorized to be collected, there shall be assessed an
31	31	additional court cost of fifty dollars ($50) in all civil
32	32	cases filed in the circuit court and district court, including
33	33	the small claims court, in Choctaw County.
34	34	(b) In addition to any court costs authorized to be
35	35	collected, there shall be assessed an additional court cost of
36	36	fifty dollars ($50) in all criminal and quasi-criminal cases
37	37	brought in the circuit court and district court and in any

67	67	brought in the circuit court and district court and in any
68	68	municipal court in Choctaw County.
69	69	Section 2. All costs assessed pursuant to this act
70	70	shall be collected by the court clerk as other court costs are
71	71	collected and distributed to Choctaw County for deposit in a
72	72	special fund designated as the Jail Fund. All monies paid into
73	73	the Jail Fund shall be expended by the county exclusively for
74	74	the payment of the costs of maintaining, repairing, and
75	75	operating the county jail and jail complex and for paying any
76	76	indebtedness incurred for the construction of the county jail
77	77	and jail complex.
78	78	Section 3. This act shall become effective on the
79	79	ratification of a local constitutional amendment applicable to
80	80	Choctaw County authorizing additional court costs to be levied
81	81	in the county.
