Relating to the practice of pharmacy; to authorize a licensed pharmacist to prescribe certain vaccines; and to require pharmacists who administer vaccines to individuals under 19 years of age to also recommend annual well-child visits to a pediatrician.
Relating to licensure of health care professionals; to exempt certain individuals from state licensure, registration, and certification requirements while they are visiting Alabama to render certain services during the 2025 World Police and Fire Games to be held in Birmingham and other locations; to provide for consent for certain medical services; and to provide for repeal of this bill on December 31, 2025.
Relating to the Alabama Board of Optometry; to amend Section 34-22-1, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide further for the scope of practice of an optometrist; to add 34-22-20.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to authorize optometrists to administer certain vaccinations in certain circumstances; to add Section 34-22-20.2 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to prohibit an optometrist from using "surgeon" in advertising; to add 34-22-40.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to establish the board as a certifying board under the Alabama Controlled Substances Act; to amend Section 20-2-2, Code of Alabama 1975, to include the Alabama Board of Optometry in the definition of certifying boards, with certain exceptions; and to make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update existing code language to current style.
Relating to Opioid Addiction Treatment; to repeal the Medication Assisted Treatment of Opioid Use Act of 2019, codified as Sections 20-2-300 through 20-2-302, Code of Alabama 1975, that provide for adoption of rules governing use of buprenorphine in the treatment of opioid addiction and a standing working group to assist in drafting the rules.
Relating to assisted living facilities; to amend Section 22-21-25, Code of Alabama 1975, to create the Alabama Assisted Living Board of Mitigation to resolve conflicts between certain assisted living facilities and the Alabama Department of Public Health; and to provide for the membership and duties of the board.
Relating to the State Board of Health and emergency medical services; to amend Section 22-18-1, Code of Alabama 1975, to further provide for the requirements for a licensure as a community paramedic; and to prohibit the State Board of Health from requiring a college degree for licensure as a community paramedic.
