1717 SYNOPSIS:
1818 Under existing law, any person who solicits or
1919 aids in the disposition or attempted disposition of a
2020 uniform traffic ticket and complaint in any
2121 unauthorized manner is subject to the criminal contempt
2222 power of the court.
2323 This bill would provide that this provision does
2424 not apply to the law enforcement officer who issued the
2525 uniform traffic ticket and complaint.

2828 AN ACT
2929 Relating to traffic infractions; to amend Section
3030 12-12-56, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide that the
3131 prohibition regarding soliciting or aiding in the disposition
3232 of a uniform traffic ticket and complaint in an unauthorized
3333 manner does not apply to the issuing law enforcement officer.
3434 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
3535 Section 1. Section 12-12-56, Code of Alabama 1975, is
3636 amended to read as follows:

3838 (a) No law enforcement officer or other officer or

6868 (a) No law enforcement officer or other officer or
6969 public employee shall dispose of a uniform traffic ticket and
7070 complaint, or any portion thereof , or the record of issuance
7171 thereof in a manner other than as required under rules or
7272 regulations promulgated adopted pursuant to this
7373 subsectionarticle.
7474 (b) Any person, other than the issuing law enforcement
7575 officer, who solicits or aids in the disposition or attempted
7676 disposition of a uniform traffic ticket and complaint , or any
7777 portion thereof, in any unauthorized manner is subject to the
7878 criminal contempt power of the district or municipal court."
7979 Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
8080 1, 2025.
