17+SYNOPSIS:
18+This bill would create the Alabama Squat Truck
19+Law, would prohibit the alteration of a motor vehicle
20+in such a manner that the height of the front fender is
21+raised four or more inches greater than the height of
22+the accompanying rear fender, and would provide
23+penalties for a violation.

1926 AN ACT
2027 Relating to motor vehicles; to create the Alabama Squat
2128 Truck Law; to prohibit the alteration of the height of the
2229 fender of a motor vehicle; to provide penalties for a
2330 violation; and to provide exceptions.
2431 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2532 Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as
2633 the Alabama Squat Truck Law.
2734 Section 2. (a) Except as otherwise provided in
2835 subsection (b), it shall be unlawful for any person to operate
2936 a passenger car or truck, as defined under Section 32-1-1.1,
3037 Code of Alabama 1975, on the highways of this state if, by
3138 alteration of the suspension, frame, or chassis, the height of
32-the front fender is raised four or more inches greater than
33-the height of the accompanying rear fender. For purposes of
34-this section, the height of the fender shall be a vertical
35-measurement from and perpendicular to the ground, through the
36-centerline of the wheel, and to the bottom of the fender.
37-(b) This section does not apply to any vehicle
38-modification or alteration made for bona fide commercial or

70+the height of the accompanying rear fender. For purposes of
71+this section, the height of the fender shall be a vertical
72+measurement from and perpendicular to the ground, through the
73+centerline of the wheel, and to the bottom of the fender.
74+(b) This section does not apply to any vehicle
6875 modification or alteration made for bona fide commercial or
6976 agricultural purposes.
7077 (c) A person who violates this section shall be guilty
7178 of a violation and shall be punished as follows:
7279 (1) On a first conviction, a fine of not more than
7380 fifty dollars ($50).
7481 (2) On a second conviction, a fine of not more than one
7582 hundred dollars ($100).
7683 (3) On a third or subsequent conviction, a fine of two
77-hundred fifty dollars ($250).
84+hundred fifty dollars ($250). In addition, the court shall
85+send notice of the conviction to the Secretary of the Alabama
86+State Law Enforcement Agency, who shall enter the conviction
87+on the driving record of the defendant as a two-point
88+violation.
7889 (d) For purposes of determining whether a prior
7990 conviction has occurred under this section, the court shall
8091 only consider offenses that occurred within the preceding five
8192 years of the current offense.
8293 Section 3. This act shall become effective October 1,
