15+SYNOPSIS:
16+Under existing law, a county's presiding
17+juvenile judge is responsible for the supervision and
18+administration of the county's juvenile detention
19+facility and the individuals employed to work in the
20+facility.
21+This bill would authorize a county commission to
22+assume the supervision of the county's juvenile
23+detention facility and the individuals employed to work
24+in the facility following a written request by the
25+presiding juvenile judge of the county and the passage
26+of a resolution.

1729 AN ACT
1830 Relating to juvenile detention; to further provide for
1931 the management of county juvenile detention facilities.
2032 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2133 Section 1. (a) Upon written request by the presiding
2234 juvenile judge of the county, a county commission, by
23-resolution adopted no later than 90 days after the effective
24-date of this act, may assume the supervision and
25-administration of the county's juvenile detention facility and
26-the individuals employed to work in the facility. Upon the
27-passage of a resolution, the commission may hire a detention
28-superintendent to manage the facility and the facility's
29-employees on behalf of the commission.
30-(b) The Supreme Court of Alabama shall review and
31-revise as necessary the Rules of Juvenile Procedure to ensure
32-compliance with this section.
33-Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately.
