1515 SYNOPSIS:
1616 Under existing law, a Class IV municipality may
1717 not hire the same accountant to conduct the
1818 municipality's audit for more than three consecutive
1919 years.
2020 This bill would remove that restriction.

2424 Relating to Class IV municipalities; to amend Section
2525 11-43B-9, Code of Alabama 1975; to remove the restriction that
2626 audits of Class IV municipalities may not be conducted by the
2727 same accountant for more than three consecutive years.
2828 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2929 Section 1. Section 11-43B-9, Code of Alabama 1975, is
3030 amended to read as follows:
3131 "ยง11-43B-9
3232 The mayor shall, from time to time, shall prepare a
3333 detailed statement of all receipts and expenses of the city.
3434 At the end of each fiscal year the council shall cause the
3535 books and accounts of the city to be audited by a reputable,
3636 disinterested certified public accountant. The same accountant

6666 disinterested certified public accountant. The same accountant
6767 shall not conduct the audit for more than three consecutive
6868 fiscal years. A true summary of the annual audit report shall
6969 be published once in a newspaper of general circulation in the
7070 city. The audit report shall be submitted by the mayor to the
7171 council at its first meeting after the completion of such the
7272 report."
