15	15	SYNOPSIS:
16	16	Under existing law, members of county boards of
17	17	education are elected for terms of six years.
18	18	This bill would propose an amendment to the
19	19	Constitution of Alabama of 2022, relating to Crenshaw
20	20	County, to provide that the members of the county board
21	21	of education shall serve four-year terms of office.

23	23	TO BE ENTITLED
24	24	AN ACT
25	25	To propose an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama
26	26	of 2022, relating to Crenshaw County, to provide that members
27	27	of the county board of education shall serve four-year terms
28	28	of office.
29	29	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
30	30	Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution
31	31	of Alabama of 2022, is proposed and shall become valid as part
32	32	of the constitution when all requirements of this act are
33	33	fulfilled:
34	34	PROPOSED AMENDMENT
35	35	Commencing with the election of members to the Crenshaw
36	36	County Board of Education in November 2026, members shall

66	66	County Board of Education in November 2026, members shall
67	67	serve for terms of four years.
68	68	Upon ratification of this constitutional amendment, the
69	69	Code Commissioner shall number and place this amendment as
70	70	appropriate in the constitution omitting this instructional
71	71	paragraph and may make the following nonsubstantive revisions:
72	72	change capitalization, hierarchy, spelling, and punctuation
73	73	for purposes of style and uniformity; correct manifest
74	74	grammatical, clerical, and typographical errors; revise
75	75	internal or external citations and cross-references; harmonize
76	76	language; and translate effective dates.
77	77	END PROPOSED AMENDMENT
78	78	Section 2. An election upon the proposed amendment
79	79	shall be held in accordance with Sections 284, 284.01, and 285
80	80	of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, and the election laws
81	81	of this state. The appropriate election official shall assign
82	82	a ballot number for the proposed constitutional amendment on
83	83	the election ballot and shall set forth the following
84	84	description of the substance or subject matter of the proposed
85	85	constitutional amendment:
86	86	"Relating to Crenshaw County, proposing an amendment to
87	87	the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to provide, commencing
88	88	with the election of members to the county board of education
89	89	in November 2026, that members shall be elected to serve for
90	90	terms of four years.
91	91	Proposed by Act ____."
92	92	This description shall be followed by the following
93	93	language:
94	94	"Yes( ) No( )."

126	126	part of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, when approved by
127	127	a majority of the qualified electors voting thereon.
