1515 SYNOPSIS:
1616 Under existing law, members of county boards of
1717 education are elected for terms of six years.
1818 This bill would propose an amendment to the
1919 Constitution of Alabama of 2022, relating to Crenshaw
2020 County, to provide that the members of the county board
2121 of education shall serve four-year terms of office.

2525 To propose an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama
2626 of 2022, relating to Crenshaw County, to provide that members
2727 of the county board of education shall serve four-year terms
2828 of office.
2929 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
3030 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution
3131 of Alabama of 2022, is proposed and shall become valid as part
3232 of the constitution when all requirements of this act are
3333 fulfilled:

3535 Commencing with the election of members to the Crenshaw
3636 County Board of Education in November 2026, members shall

6666 County Board of Education in November 2026, members shall
6767 serve for terms of four years.
6868 Upon ratification of this constitutional amendment, the
6969 Code Commissioner shall number and place this amendment as
7070 appropriate in the constitution omitting this instructional
7171 paragraph and may make the following nonsubstantive revisions:
7272 change capitalization, hierarchy, spelling, and punctuation
7373 for purposes of style and uniformity; correct manifest
7474 grammatical, clerical, and typographical errors; revise
7575 internal or external citations and cross-references; harmonize
7676 language; and translate effective dates.
7777 END PROPOSED AMENDMENT
7878 Section 2. An election upon the proposed amendment
7979 shall be held in accordance with Sections 284, 284.01, and 285
8080 of the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, and the election laws
8181 of this state. The appropriate election official shall assign
8282 a ballot number for the proposed constitutional amendment on
8383 the election ballot and shall set forth the following
8484 description of the substance or subject matter of the proposed
8585 constitutional amendment:
8686 "Relating to Crenshaw County, proposing an amendment to
8787 the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to provide, commencing
8888 with the election of members to the county board of education
8989 in November 2026, that members shall be elected to serve for
9090 terms of four years.
9191 Proposed by Act ____."
9292 This description shall be followed by the following
9393 language:

127127 a majority of the qualified electors voting thereon.
