| 23 | 23 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: |

| 24 | 24 | | Section 1. Section 45-51-231.01 of the Code of Alabama |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 1975, is amended to read as follows: |

| 26 | 26 | | "ยง45-51-231.01 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (a)(1) Any Sheriff of Montgomery County who has served |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | two consecutive full terms shall receive an additional expense |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | allowance of twenty seventy thousand dollars ($20,000) |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | ($70,000) per year, payable in equal monthly installments from |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the general fund of the county. This expense allowance shall |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be in addition to all other compensation or benefits granted |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to the sheriff and may be treated as compensation for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | retirement contributions. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (2) This subsection shall be void at the end of the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | term of the sheriff serving on August 1, 2023, or on a vacancy |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | in the office of sheriff for any reason. |

| 69 | 69 | | Sheriff of Montgomery County, and thereafter, any sheriff who |

| 72 | 72 | | seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000) two hundred |

| 73 | 73 | | twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) . The salary shall be |

| 74 | 74 | | paid from the general fund of the county. |
