1515 SYNOPSIS:
1616 Under existing law, the Alabama Board of
1717 Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
1818 is responsible for establishing, by administrative
1919 rule, the minimum qualifications for speech-language
2020 pathology assistants.
2121 This bill would require an applicant for
2222 registration as an assistant to hold the minimum of an
2323 associate's degree in communication disorders or
2424 related field in speech-language pathology or audiology
2525 in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

2929 Relating to the Alabama Board of Examiners for
3030 Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology; to add Section
3131 34-28A-21.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to provide further
3232 for the minimum educational qualifications of a
3333 speech-language pathology assistant.
3434 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
3535 Section 1. Section 34-28A-21.1 is added to the Code of

6767 ยง34-28A-21.1
6868 Any person not eligible for a license under this
6969 chapter who assists in the practice of speech-language
7070 pathology or audiology under the supervision of a licensed
7171 speech-language pathologist or audiologist, must have the
7272 minimum of an associate's degree in communication disorders or
7373 related field in speech-language pathology and register with
7474 the board.
7575 Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
7676 1, 2025.
