15	15	SYNOPSIS:
16	16	Under existing law, the Alabama Board of
17	17	Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
18	18	is responsible for establishing, by administrative
19	19	rule, the minimum qualifications for speech-language
20	20	pathology assistants.
21	21	This bill would require an applicant for
22	22	registration as an assistant to hold the minimum of an
23	23	associate's degree in communication disorders or
24	24	related field in speech-language pathology or audiology
25	25	in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

28	28	AN ACT
29	29	Relating to the Alabama Board of Examiners for
30	30	Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology; to add Section
31	31	34-28A-21.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to provide further
32	32	for the minimum educational qualifications of a
33	33	speech-language pathology assistant.
34	34	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
35	35	Section 1. Section 34-28A-21.1 is added to the Code of
36	36	Alabama 1975, to read as follows:

68	68	Any person not eligible for a license under this
69	69	chapter who assists in the practice of speech-language
70	70	pathology or audiology under the supervision of a licensed
71	71	speech-language pathologist or audiologist, must have the
72	72	minimum of an associate's degree in communication disorders or
73	73	related field in speech-language pathology and register with
74	74	the board.
75	75	Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
76	76	1, 2025.
