| 33 | 33 | | individuals to provide care to injured or orphaned wild birds |

| 35 | 35 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: |

| 36 | 36 | | Section 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | the Alabama Good Samaritan Wildlife Rehabilitation Act. |

| 38 | 38 | | Section 2. (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | an individual may in good faith provide care or treatment to |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | sustain life or reduce disability to any injured, orphaned, or |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | debilitated wild bird or animal that is not federally |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | protected or otherwise endangered so that the organism may be |

| 76 | 76 | | (1) Authorize an individual engaged in wildlife |

| 77 | 77 | | rehabilitation to engage in the practice of veterinary |
|---|
| 78 | 78 | | medicine as defined in Section 34-29-61, Code of Alabama 1975. |
|---|
| 79 | 79 | | (2) Exempt an individual from the crime of cruelty to |
|---|
| 80 | 80 | | animals as provided in Section 13A-11-14, Code of Alabama |
|---|
| 81 | 81 | | 1975. |
|---|
| 82 | 82 | | Section 3. This act shall become effective on October |
|---|
| 83 | 83 | | 1, 2025. |
