Enrolled, An Act,
Relating to Clarke County; to provide for the expense
allowance and salary of the sheriff.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. This act shall apply only to Clarke County.
Section 2. (a) Effective beginning the first day of the
month following the adoption of this act, the Sheriff of
Clarke County shall receive an annual expense allowance of
thirty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($32,500), payable in
equal monthly installments from the general fund of the
county.
(b) This expense allowance shall be in addition to all
other compensation or benefits granted to the sheriff and may
be treated as compensation for retirement purposes.
Section 3. Effective beginning the next term of office,
the annual salary of the Sheriff of Clarke County shall be
increased by thirty-two thousand five hundred dollars
($32,500) and the expense allowance provided in subsection (a)
shall be void.
Section 4. The expense allowance and salary provided
for in this act shall be in lieu of any other compensation for
the sheriff and shall supersede any law or part thereof
providing for an expense allowance, salary, or other
compensation for the sheriff.
Section 5. This act shall become effective immediately.
