| 18 | 18 | Relating to Butler County; to authorize the sheriff to | |
| 19 | 19 | sell surplus property; and to provide for the proceeds of | |
| 20 | 20 | sales. | |
| 21 | 21 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: | |
| 22 | 22 | Section 1. (a) The Sheriff of Butler County may sell | |
| 23 | 23 | surplus property of the sheriff's department, including | |
| 24 | 24 | vehicles, at a time and in a manner that the sheriff deems | |
| 25 | 25 | best to obtain the greatest return from the original | |
| 26 | 26 | investment. | |
| 27 | 27 | (b) The sheriff shall establish the Sheriff's Vehicle | |
| 28 | 28 | Fund in a bank in Butler County to be used for the purchase of | |
| 29 | 29 | vehicles or related equipment for the sheriff's office. The | |
| 30 | 30 | receipts and expenditures of funds shall be audited by the | |
| 31 | 31 | Department of Examiners of Public Accounts. | |
| 32 | 32 | (c) All monies received from the sale of surplus | |
| 33 | 33 | property shall be deposited into the Sheriff's Vehicle Fund. | |
| 34 | 34 | Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1, | |
| 35 | 35 | 2025. | |
