SYNOPSIS:
This bill would exempt the Alabama Eye Bank from
payment of state sales and use taxes and would provide
for municipalities and counties to exempt this entity
from local sales and use taxes.
A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to state, county, and municipal sales and use
taxes; to exempt the Alabama Eye Bank from paying state sales
and use taxes; to provide for counties and municipalities to
exempt this entity from local sales and use taxes; and to
provide a sunset provision for this exemption.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) The Alabama Eye Bank is exempt from
paying state sales and use taxes.
(b) The exemption provided in this section shall not
apply to county or municipal sales and use taxes unless
approved by resolution or ordinance adopted by the local
governing body.
(c) The exemption provided in this section shall be
available from October 1, 2025, until September 30, 2030.

Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1,
