1717 AN ACT
1818 Relating to Montgomery County; to amend Section
1919 45-51-84, Code of Alabama 1975, to further provide for the
2020 compensation of the judge of probate.
2121 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2222 Section 1. Section 45-51-84, Code of Alabama 1975, is
2323 amended to read as follows:
2424 "ยง45-51-84
2525 (a) The per annum compensation shall be eighty-eight
2626 thousand dollars ($88,000) for the judge of probate effective
2727 October 1, 1996.
2828 (b) The compensation amount in subsection (a) shall be
2929 paid out of the general fund of the Montgomery County
3030 Commission in the same manner as other county employees are
3131 paid.
3232 (c) Subsequent to October 1, 1996, the compensation
3333 amount in subsection (a) shall be increased by the same
3434 percentage as the across-the-board percentage increase
3535 received by full-time county employees at the same time as the
3636 increase is received by the county employees, except that the
3737 amount shall not be increased by more than three thousand

6767 amount shall not be increased by more than three thousand
6868 dollars ($3,000) in any fiscal year.
69-(d) Beginning October 1, 2025, the individual serving
70-as judge of probate on June 1, 2025, in lieu of any other
71-salary, shall receive a salary of one hundred fifty-three
72-thousand seven hundred twenty-five dollars ($153,725) per
73-year."
69+(d) Any individual who has served at least six full
70+years as the Montgomery County Judge of Probate shall receive
71+as his or her total compensation a salary in an amount equal
72+to the salary of a circuit judge with the same years of
73+service as the judge of probate. This compensation shall be in
74+lieu of any other compensation provided by law to the
75+Montgomery County Judge of Probate. "
7476 Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1,
