15+HJR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF GRAHAM
16+LAMAR CHAMPION.
1817 WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow and deep regret
1918 that we record the passing of Graham Lamar Champion of Pike
2019 Road, Alabama, on February 7, 2025, at the age of 72; and
2120 WHEREAS, Graham Champion was the owner of Public Strategies,
2221 LLC, a lobbying firm where he represented clients across the
2322 nation; and
2423 WHEREAS, he was held in high respect by past and
2524 present members of the Alabama Legislature for his
2625 friendliness, honesty, knowledge, and willingness to listen
2726 to all sides of issues with which he was involved, and
2827 whenever possible, he was willing to compromise to reach an
2928 agreement; and
3029 WHEREAS, Graham Champion's service to his clients and
3130 to members of the Alabama Legislature is well known and
3231 respected: his dedication and commitment to civic service is
3332 equally well known and held in equally high respect; and
3433 WHEREAS, Graham Champion was a devoted member of the
3534 Montgomery Rotary Club where he served as president;
3635 additionally, he served the Rotary Club as assistant
3736 district governor and district membership chair; and
3837 WHEREAS, he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow
3938 for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
40-University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in

68+for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
7069 University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in
7170 developing the polio vaccine; and
7271 WHEREAS, Graham Champion earned the rank of Eagle
7372 Scout in August 1966; he maintained a lifelong devotion to
7473 scouting, serving as president of the Tukabatchee Area
7574 Council since 2022 and standing as a longtime member of the
7675 Council Executive Board; and
7776 WHEREAS, he was recognized as the 2023 Outstanding
7877 Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for his
7978 service to scouting; and
8079 WHEREAS, above all else, the most important thing in
8180 Graham Champion's life was his family; he is survived by his
8281 beloved wife, Linda; sons, Matthew Champion (Katie) and Lee
8382 Walden; grandchildren, Landon Champion, Madison Champion,
8483 and Nate Walden; and sister, Celie Edwards; and
8584 WHEREAS, in addition to his family, Graham Champion
8685 leaves behind scores of people from all walks of life who
8786 called him not just a friend, but a very good friend; now
8887 therefore,
8988 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
9089 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That while we mourn the death of
9190 Graham Champion, we celebrate his life and recognize his
9291 contributions to the good people of the Great State of
9392 Alabama, and we offer this resolution along with heartfelt
9493 sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
