	16	+	LAMAR CHAMPION.
18	17		WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow and deep regret
19	18		that we record the passing of Graham Lamar Champion of Pike
20	19		Road, Alabama, on February 7, 2025, at the age of 72; and
21	20		WHEREAS, Graham Champion was the owner of Public Strategies,
22	21		LLC, a lobbying firm where he represented clients across the
23	22		nation; and
24	23		WHEREAS, he was held in high respect by past and
25	24		present members of the Alabama Legislature for his
26	25		friendliness, honesty, knowledge, and willingness to listen
27	26		to all sides of issues with which he was involved, and
28	27		whenever possible, he was willing to compromise to reach an
29	28		agreement; and
30	29		WHEREAS, Graham Champion's service to his clients and
31	30		to members of the Alabama Legislature is well known and
32	31		respected: his dedication and commitment to civic service is
33	32		equally well known and held in equally high respect; and
34	33		WHEREAS, Graham Champion was a devoted member of the
35	34		Montgomery Rotary Club where he served as president;
36	35		additionally, he served the Rotary Club as assistant
37	36		district governor and district membership chair; and
38	37		WHEREAS, he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow
39	38		for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
40		-	University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in

	68	+	for his commitment and hard work to ensure that Tuskegee
70	69		University was honored by the Rotary Foundation for work in
71	70		developing the polio vaccine; and
72	71		WHEREAS, Graham Champion earned the rank of Eagle
73	72		Scout in August 1966; he maintained a lifelong devotion to
74	73		scouting, serving as president of the Tukabatchee Area
75	74		Council since 2022 and standing as a longtime member of the
76	75		Council Executive Board; and
77	76		WHEREAS, he was recognized as the 2023 Outstanding
78	77		Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for his
79	78		service to scouting; and
80	79		WHEREAS, above all else, the most important thing in
81	80		Graham Champion's life was his family; he is survived by his
82	81		beloved wife, Linda; sons, Matthew Champion (Katie) and Lee
83	82		Walden; grandchildren, Landon Champion, Madison Champion,
84	83		and Nate Walden; and sister, Celie Edwards; and
85	84		WHEREAS, in addition to his family, Graham Champion
86	85		leaves behind scores of people from all walks of life who
87	86		called him not just a friend, but a very good friend; now
88	87		therefore,
89	88		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
90	89		HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That while we mourn the death of
91	90		Graham Champion, we celebrate his life and recognize his
92	91		contributions to the good people of the Great State of
93	92		Alabama, and we offer this resolution along with heartfelt
94	93		sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
