26 | 25 | | WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and |

27 | 26 | | Prevention estimates that if every individual aged 50 or |

28 | 27 | | older had regular screening tests, as many as 60 percent of |

29 | 28 | | deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented; and |

30 | 29 | | WHEREAS, when detected early, the five-year survival |

31 | 30 | | rate for patients with localized colorectal cancer is 90 |

32 | 31 | | percent, but only 39 percent of all diagnoses are diagnosed |

33 | 32 | | at this stage, mostly due to low rates of screening; and |
