1717 HJR___ MOURNING THE DEATH AND HONORING THE LIFE OF DONALD
1818 WAYNE ARMSTRONG.
1919 WHEREAS, the death of Mr. Donald Wayne Armstrong of
2020 Wilsonville, Alabama, on March 6, 2025, is noted with
2121 sadness, and his long and full life of 84 years is commended
2222 and celebrated with thanksgiving ; and
2323 WHEREAS, born on August 15, 1940, to J.C. and Amy
2424 Armstrong, Donald Wayne Armstrong graduated from Shelby
2525 County High School in 1958 and later earned a Bachelor
2626 Degree in business from Alabama College, now known as the
2727 University of Montevallo; and
2828 WHEREAS, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in
2929 1963, serving with valor for six years; his career included
3030 work with U.S. Steel, as well as nine years at USS
3131 Agri-Chemical in Albany, Georgia; and
3232 WHEREAS, while his service in Shelby County began in
3333 the 1980s, his most significant contributions started when
3434 he served as a Shelby County Commissioner from 1991 to 2005;
3535 and
3636 WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, Mr. Armstrong
3737 dedicated himself to serving as the Shelby County's Property
3838 Tax Commissioner, making a profound impact both
3939 professionally and personally; his numerous professional
4040 awards reflect his unwavering commitment to serving others,

7070 awards reflect his unwavering commitment to serving others,
7171 a dedication deeply rooted in his strong faith; and
7272 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was ordained as a deacon at
7373 Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, and has
7474 faithfully served his church family at First Baptist Church
7575 of Columbiana for 43 years; and
7676 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong thoroughly enjoyed hunting and
7777 fishing, and maintained an exceptionally strong golf game
7878 throughout his life; above all, he cherished spending time
7979 with his family, creating countless memories with those he
8080 loved most; and
8181 WHEREAS, he endured profound loss with the passing of
8282 his beloved wife of 49 years, Virginia, in 2011; he later
8383 faced the heartbreaking loss of their two sons, Scott and
8484 Shane; through these difficult times, he found unwavering
8585 strength in his deep and abiding faith, which he always
8686 credited as his source of resilience ; and
8787 WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his
8888 sister-in-law, Ann Armstrong; nephew, Mark Armstrong
8989 (Kelly); nieces, Carol Harrison (Ken) and Allison Campbell
9090 (Luke); great-nephews, Jon Harrison and Matthew Campbell;
9191 great-nieces, Jaselyn Tidmore (Jacob), Jana Baker (Chase),
9292 Jennifer Matzke (Austin), and Jill Harrison; and
9393 great-great-nephews Jackson Tidmore and Jon Calvin Baker;
9494 and
9595 WHEREAS, Mr. Armstrong was a valuable member of the
9696 community and patriarch of his family, and he formed many
9797 devoted friendships through the years; he will be
9898 sorrowfully missed, but countless remembrances of his

132132 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
133133 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That while mourning the death of
134134 Mr. Donald Wayne Armstrong, it is comforting to offer
135135 gratitude for his long and meaningful life, and by copy of
136136 this resolution, heartfelt sympathy is extended to his
